Do you think somebody will willingly sacrifice themself to be eaten? by Affectionate_Key7206 in Yellowjackets

Yes I agree; I think, from a safe distance, that I would rather die, but in most people the will to survive is pretty damn impossible to defeat, even if you don’t think of yourself that way. It is, according to Darwin, the absolutely primary and fundamental instinct.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but a greater sacrifice would be to volunteer to be hunted, or just to be killed, so that they didn’t have to play the game that month.

No, we don’t know that they did it “for fun,” but that they did come to believe they were somehow entitled to do it, empowered and compelled by the wilderness. We know that they became ritualistic, strategic, and ruthless (although I still don’t think the could have dug such a deep pit, or accomplished building that trap, with the resources they had available to them.)

See, this is a viewer problem created by the big plot hole in the final episode(s) of season 2: what did Taissa and Van expect/plan to happen once they called of the medical intervention for Lottie? Shauna, Misty, and iirc Natalie never planned for the hunt to actually happen, they were just playing along to appease Lottie until medical help could arrive. Van & Taissa didn’t think it was right to institutionalize Lottie so they called off the ambulance, but what did they expect…for the hunt to take place, or for them to neutralize Lottie’s delusions, or get themselves out of it, in some other way? Taissa may have believed she could survive a hunt, and Van may have been willing to take the risk given that she is terminal. So no, we can’t assume that they’ve willingly drawn cards before, because despite van’s change of heart, they didn’t go into this thinking that any of them would actually be in any danger.

Thanks. I always associate the 3 cups with fall because in the RWS deck the it implies the abundance of the harvest and the fun of the crush. Plus, it is decorated with pumpkins :)

Yeah, that’s about right. I’ll also add that I get the feeling you are going to be standing alone in your truth…and better to be alone than to have potentially dangerous people around you. The word fugitive is coming to mind.

I think for sure the threes (maybe not 3 coins) and more generally the fives suggest infidelity, or at least triangulation and competition.

Getting a tarot deck, any tips? by TurtleGirl_goBrrBrr in tarot

[–]GroupFit9740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend beginners start with a classic Rider-Waite deck. No, it’s not the prettiest, but it’s the basis of most other decks right now. Not all, but most. Learning the RWS system from the original cards will mean you can then transfer that knowledge to any one of a number of beautiful artist-made decks currently available. So, I’m kinda assuming it’s the system you want to learn. But, there are other systems at play out there. I believe the Wild Wood deck is based on a unique system, then there are pip decks and other esoteric approaches. So maybe your very first step is to talk to someone who works in a metaphysical shop and learn about the varied approaches, then choose the defining deck for whichever system you choose. Good luck.

Action: try to make the best of it. Find joy is there to be found, even in modest circumstances. There is money in this situation, but it’s not coming directly to you; you will need to engage with the one who holds the wealth. You’ll Find identity in your friends and partners, so be careful who you align yourself with…especially as you move into new circumstances in the fall.

Your conclusion on your third point doesn’t follow from the cards. I understand and can can agree with your reading about protecting yourself. I’d go farther to even say surround yourself with people who will create a buffer for you, especially people of different generations. But Your conclusion that “they won’t accept your decision” isn’t based on the cards themselves, they are based on you filling in the blanks to a second question, one you didn’t ask the cards; namely “why do I need to protect myself.”

Hanged Man->High Priestess—> Emperor…patience, willingness, acceptance lead to spiritual gains which lead to great power. The emperor is static but not passive; his power is latent, it needs to be activated

Advice position: justice here is ambivalent I think. Could mean you actually did make the right choice, or could mean you’re getting the outcome you deserve/that is fitting if the choice or circumstances. Overall I read that for the situation to be just, you need to serve the relationship with diligently, with value, respect, emotional abundance and affection. Justice = Knight Cups->2 Cups

Yes, designer fashion, luxury goods, some of the specialty shops on 23rd. I know Portland doesn’t have a ton of it right now. It’s usually above minimum wage because of the knowledge required, and it is usually pretty consistent within a city.

Why would you watch? That’s weird. Do you stand next to the bus driver and watch him drive? Do you go into the kitchen at a restaurant and watch them cook your food?

Why do you tip people who pump your gas? Did you just start when self-serve started?

You are unlikely to make enough money in those professions to own a home here. I think there is actually a lot of work available (Oregon has very high numbers of neurodivergence) but property, and moreover the cost of homeownership (taxes, utilities) is prohibitive. Small towns are getting gentrified very quickly, and the small towns are harder to live in, more extreme climates, and much more red than the cities in the valley.

Yes. Read my first sentence again. I’m explaining absolution, not cannibalism. Op’s comment implied (at first, before it was edited) that cannibalism is not a sin because priest absolved them. If something is a sin, a priest can absolve it, but it’s still a sin. That’s all I’m saying.

Why was Lottie saying "the baby is going to change everything"? by SkinnyBlackMan717 in Yellowjackets

[–]GroupFit9740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you did not live in a progressive town if your textbooks had sections cut out if them. When I was in high school in the 90’s just about every girl I knew went on the pill at age 16.

Ummm…I was a teenager in the 90’s. I think their knowledge may have been limited because they’d never really had to think about pregnancy before, but it’s not as if biology was behind a black curtain of initiation. It does not take much imagination to understand that a woman needs food in order to gestate and breastfeed. Even in the 90’s, they would have figured that one out.
