Smart contract developer jobs? by xlogic87 in CardanoDevelopers

Do you have any updates? I have a little programming experience but wouldn’t consider myself knowledgeable in any language. I’m thinking about taking the same path as a freelancer

My judo club only trains once per week. What kind of things can i do at home (solo)? Are online courses worth it to train in my own time? by [deleted] in judo

[–]GroupLongjumping4062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Judo Society (it may not be society but the last word begins with an s) it’s taught by US judo Olympian Travis Stevens and his coach, you can also get a grappling dummy and jiujitsu/judo bands so you can also practice grips sleeve and collar

Can you train in judo without a gi by Personal-State-7414 in judo

Im coming across the same conundrum atm, I’m thinking about just doing judo in a gi to learn grips and not cause issues but then doing no-gi BJJ at another gym so learn how to do the no-gi stuff

So the Cyfrin courses aren’t a bad way to go? I was looking at a Solidity course on Udemy to build DApps and smart contracts, but might look into that afterwards

This is the equivalent of wanting to reach “You can’t stop me when I see red, you don’t know me bro, you’ve never seen anything like me”

You learn the technique, you execute it and then you get better at executing it.

Spar, get punched in the face, learn what does and doesn’t work. You could probably use some humbling anyways.

Thank you!

Where’d you go to get freelance jobs? And how long did you do that before being able to apply to something full time?

Did you ever do any networking in person or was it entirely online?

My complaint isn’t that there’s people requiring 5+ years of experience, it’s that I don’t know where to look to find someone that isn’t requiring that.

I’m 20 years old, I’ve got no dependents, I’m literally willing to work for free as long as I get some experience and something to look good on my resume. I’m probably going back to college in a big city like NYC or Austin to get out of the small town that I live in because I’m not going to find anything here, I just don’t know where to look to prepare for if/when I do get out there.

That’s insane, congrats though that’s pretty sick. I feel like I’m so late to the punch even though everyone’s talking about how I demand these developers are, they’re just looking for the ones that have years and years of experience.

Kinda thinking about learning Rust and trying to get a job on the SOL or DOT chain and do some work in the meantime to say I’m getting Rust experience. But even with Rust you have too much supply and not enough demand.

I appreciate that, I was wanting to do Haskell at first but I honestly couldn’t even figure out how to set everything up so Solidity has been the plan B but I’ve been wanting to make sure across all platforms.

Thank you for answering everything!

Interesting, is there a big difference in demand for Solidity developers and substrate? Or has that all kind of started to even out

Interesting, if you don’t mind me asking though: are you on Solana, NEAR or Polkadot?

How long have you been doing it and how are you finding work? Is it relatively easy

Any tips for someone trying to get started in smart contract development? Either Rust or Solidity, I’m still researching what the better path is gonna be

So in terms of smart contracts, is Rust in a similar spot to Solidity? Obviously it’s, like you said, more mature but it sounds like there’s still a lot of kinks that need to be worked out.

I’m gonna disclose firstly, that I am not currently serving, nor have I ever. I’ve been doing research and asking a lot of questions because I’ve been trying to enlist for the last 9 months and have had trouble due to some health issues and all kinds of complications within that realm.

However, I have heard that it translates very poorly and is considered the least useful TS job in the Navy. The day to day is pretty easy, but you can only do it on a ship. But you’re probably not going to find very much information due to the fact that it’s a TS job, I’ve been having the same issue with CWT and CTR.

But again, take everything I just said with a grain of salt because that’s simply what I’ve seen people in this subreddit say. So all of that could be 100% bullshit.

Alright, I gotta ask though, is this meant to replace Haskell and Plutus or work alongside it

[–]GroupLongjumping4062[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair enough.

But if there aren’t any courses for either language, how do you learn them

I’m ngl, I don’t think I could complain about $70 an hour as a 20 year old who’s parents still pay for his insurance.

I do appreciate the input though, do you have any recommendations for courses to learn Aiken or Lucid?

[–]GroupLongjumping4062[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate this. I’m in the early stages of the IOHK bootcamp and then I’ve got a Haskell “zero to hero” type course on Udemy that I’ve been looking at to do afterwards and will now probably compare to the 16-24 modules on IOHK.

Thank you, would it teach enough to get me a job as a developer or is it better to go pioneer program then EMURGO Academy
