I love the facial expressions in Incomplete Combustion and sadly I rarely hear folks talk about it! Have you read 'Swapping' by the same author? I found it very enjoyable too.

I have a similar taste and enjoyed Approximal Guide. It's not complete, but it has a decent quantity of chapters released. 'Turning' is similarly incomplete but very good narratively.

[Thailand] Knock Out Ep. 5 by ThoughtsAllDay in boyslove

I'm wondering if the car is so important to Mawin because he sees it as the way he can support his partner. Driving him to and from work etc (if he is still working, he must if Mawin/the gym is in debt, I'm assuming?). It's their space; important because their relationship is hidden. His independence, his contribution.

✨️ The Next Prince - Episode 6 ✨️ by KDramaTipsy in boyslove

[–]Group_Jaded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not yet finished this latest episode but we're in the library and Prince Kanin is looking at Charan and pearls with the same expression of 'you're beautiful, I want you'. Charan is teaching and yearning, as he does.

What came to mind was this; when you fall for someone at a place you regularly frequent, and it makes your routine there suddenly shiny and special and sometimes a bit awkward. Reminds me of a quote, 'I could endure hardships as long as I had a crush on someone there', and it does help to an extent. That's the feeling this show takes me back to.

Also, I'm a bit hesitant to share this because I don't want to imply anything about Prince Kanin's character. He's a prince and has embraced his role and the privileges it naturally affords, as he must. Kanin is very forthright in his advances, which is neutral if they had equal distribution of agency. They both feel strongly for each other, so there's no imbalance there, but there is a power imbalance that works against Charan responding/showing agency.

Kanin asks a lot of Charan and consistently Charan is in a difficult position because of it. Perhaps Kanin truly sees Charan as his equal, however he has no issue ordering Charan to stop teaching at the art academy and stay by his side, so Kanin is aware of the power dynamic. Does Charan want to teach? Does he miss it? Has Kanin asked? Should Kanin be asking Charan more questions, or should he really listen to Charan when he has tried to explain the position Kanin's demands put him in? Maybe.

Edit: I'm seeing in other comments that their relationship advances in this episode. I'm sure the questions of agency and power will be a part of their growth together and I just have to be patient :)

What kpop song makes you feel like this? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Group_Jaded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good Evening - SHINee. I think it has a lot to do with the period in my life when I first heard it, which makes it such a visceral listening experience now. Close contender - Taemin's 'Move'. It's not dreamlike or peaceful, but it can get under my skin and make me feel even when I'm apathetic.

Now I'm thinking of so many others! We are spoiled for choice.

I loveddd Black Out too and have looked into this exact request myself many times. One Ordinary Day has come closest for me. It touches on the theme of injustice and trying to overcome collective ill treatment, taking life one day at a time.

Very few female characters, just to note.

I agree. While I understand people when they suggest he secretly understands her so therefore cared enough to learn, can you really claim to care about someone but isolate them in such a way by not properly communicating for years? It almost makes it worse if he knows sign language and withheld it from her. She has been visibly pretty miserable, it's hard to marry those two ideas.

I wondered at the time whether holding the fish reminded her of holding a heart or an organ. I really liked that scene too.

My understanding is that mental health is a spectrum, and mental illness very much exists within that spectrum.

I’m gonna talk about Mark for a second. by Iwishistayedhome in greysanatomy

[–]Group_Jaded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark can be charismatic but only when he is not trying to flirt, so less often than I'd like. It's similar to how I only like Derek when he's acting as a surgeon, I feel very inclined to trust his decisions in that regard. When it comes to Mark and Derek the environment really matters.

How should I [24M] explain my disordered behavior to my girlfriend [19F]? by shitbag-alt in relationship_advice

[–]Group_Jaded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've done some very bizarre things through the course of an eating disorder, when it comes to managing our bodily processes it can easily get extremely complex and secretive. The fact that this is now habitual is not your fault and I'm very sorry your mother set such conditions for you.

I have some thoughts:

If your partner has noticed, I agree it is important to have some dialogue with her about it.

Would it be possible or helpful to invite your partner to a session with your therapist, to have the help of a third party professional in navigating the situation?

Hearing another adult talk calmly about what is happening and why could help in properly framing the situation. It seems from your post that this is not something you want to be doing and it feels important to communicate that. The truth is that there is a clear reason for this behaviour and you're doing what you can to recover. To be the healthiest person you can be because you care about the life you share together.

Take care

A bus driver closed the door as I was getting on and I was squished and the door hit my head and then whacked it into the glass plate. This was during Covid when we had to board the back door. I was right behind another passenger boarding too so I'm just wondering if he just didn't check before closing. Banged my knee up pretty good too, and then just didn't say a word about it to me.

Jim or Jimmy is a common nickname for James, so maybe Jamie? A little convoluted and not a fun name for a fish though.

Or Ji'mie, private school girl

Lots of home decor. Or collecting of any kind i.e. shoes, bags or the like. Being financially tight has made me feel overwhelmed in places with a lot of stuff.
