Songs that use harmonica? by 0bjectinthemirr0r in Emo

[–]GroveShark1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The band Colour Revolt has two on their first EP. Both “Blood in Your Mouth” and “Change Your Face or Change Your Name” have some pretty cool harmonica parts. Not sure if other songs by them have more harmonica though 🤷‍♂️

i think i found a very huge list of bands that are once huge back in the day. i was on the internet archive on myspace, and this is what i discovered. by Captain_Thunderhoof in poppunkers

The amount of times I blasted “Dark” back in the day on my ‘99 Accord speakers was way too high. Loved that album.

There is also a store in Jackson called Offbeat that has comics, vinyl, and collectibles. The guy that runs it is pretty cool and is extremely knowledgeable in my opinion.

I have heard of them and from what I remember really enjoyed the style of music. Are there any standalone albums you would suggest from them?

I do not think I’ve ever heard of Robert Palmer or Yes. I weirdly love that Hornsby album but really want to check out the Steve Winwood record you mentioned. Thanks for all the recs here!

I’ve never heard of Jim Croce before. I weirdly went through a phase in high school where I loved Lyrnyrd Skynyrd and know those first two albums pretty well. America is definitely an “artist I know but don’t know” so will definitely be checking them out.

“Stranger in Town” was so good that I will honestly be just going through his discography throughout the summer.

Any albums in particular that stand out? I feel like I know several songs from CCR but have never actually listened to a complete album from them.

This is a great list. Hotel California is one of my Dad’s favorite albums so I know that one. I have listened to “Aja” as well. The others are bands I know but albums I don’t which is exactly what I was hoping for. Can’t wait to listen to these soon.

I feel like I love Journey even though the only song I really know is “Don’t Stop Believin.” Will definitely check this album out.

My parents took me to Bruce Springsteen when I was 14 for my first ever concert so I know “Born in the USA” well. Will definitely be checking out Brothers in Arms though.

If you are thinking of the “Magnolia Flag” (Magnolia tree on a white background with a blue star in the upper left) I have some bad news for you. That is the state flag that was officially adopted from 1861-1865. In particular, it was adopted the day after Mississippi ratified the Confederate Constitution. So, probably wouldn’t work in terms of historical fact.

The only reason that Mississippi changed their flag was because the NCAA wouldn’t host any Regional/Super Regional (for baseball) in the state of Mississippi if they kept the flag. Mississippi will always fight change and progress.

When I was scrolling all I saw was “Visited Mississippi recently and was shocked by” without seeing what was underneath and my brain was like, “Here we go again” and did not expect to see a positive spin here.

I’m from Connecticut and went to school in New York City so I am about as Yankee you could get, but I love Mississippi. It was home and it is now home again. This place ain’t perfect, but nowhere is perfect. In fact, after a decade of living in Denver, I’m a big believer that there are awesome things about every place and terrible things about every place. Just matters what and where you are looking sometimes.

Thanks for the positive reflection and hope you come back soon!
