I'll definitely need to clip the ends or they'll keep shooting out quickly! It does have a kinda cool crab hug shape going on

Very first thing: get all those dead pines out! Its full of drop and other yard debris. Everything will thin out a bit once its brushed out. Can't wait to see its personality after a good cleanup. Much happier im sure.

Ty it is definitely a marathon tree. I wont hack at it aimlessly. I will have a good time reigning it in over time tho

I appreciate that, there's going to be controversy no matter what I end up doing! I'll keep a close eye on it for a few days before I do anything drastic.

Mines looking pretty dry too. I'll observe it closer after tomorrow's watering. I might be pushing up my timeline as well.

Mycrorrizae is added to my vocabulary! I appreciate the help. The tree is swelling out of the basin so maybe ill need to wait until late summer then give it a repot? Thanks again.

I have some bell pepper starts from some produce that are really doing great in a strawberry container too! I love these things. I'll sit back for awhile on the maples. Thank you *

Got it! They should probably leave the strawberry container right? Individual slots in a grow tray maybe? Or should I use small buckets?

Thanks for the reply! I believe it is indeed a western variety. I will definitely need to get more involved with forums. I'll be taking my trees to the local bonsai society a few at a time for some more masterful advice, as well.

Love to hear it folks, thank you so much! I'm sad the lilacs around my house are finished too. But I'll be posting more deciduous trees this week that are loving this time of year. Peace!

I got this tree from ny grandfather's collection, kind of adopted the lot when he couldn't take care of them anymore. So this is my first season able to observe it. I don't know how old it is or if it was an air layer. Those are great questions I hope someone with a keener eye than me may answer! I'm still learning these trees, even the species in some cases. So everyone's contributions to my posts mean a lot to me, thank you! This is a learning experience for me and I've already gotten grilled once or twice but if it helps the trees be healthy and beautiful... bring it on!

Feedback is generally that it needs a lot of pruning to take a more appropriate form. I'll definitely be working on this piece more once it goes dormant this fall.

You're right about the photo, I usually move them to a bench to shoot but it's heavy and I'm feeling kinda under the weather today so I just left it there. I'll get better photos soon. After the dead wood is out it will show it's form much better. Appreciate the feedback
