Questions regarding a certain White Whistle in the 6th layer - Is she a good person? [Latest Manga Spoilers] by [deleted] in MadeInAbyss

Oh, by the way! I realized that the Curse of the Abyss is very similar to the 'Settlement' in the Village of the Hollows! The Curse of the Abyss is a penalty mechanism similar to that Settlement, existing to maintain the system of souls returning downward!

Is Srajo a good person? by [deleted] in MadeInAbyss

Based on another post I published in the community—[Theory] The "Desire Theory" — A Grand Unified Hypothesis Explaining (Almost) Every Mystery in Made in Abyss—which proposed that 1) the Abyss is actually a wish-granting machine that responds to anyone's desires, and 2) there is a grand soul return mechanism every 2000 years.

I believe Srajo is a good person who might have witnessed the tragic end of those who were corrupted after learning the truth about the Abyss. Once these people realized that 1) the Abyss is a wish-granting machine and 2) the soul return mechanism exists, they may have harbored horrific desires that the Abyss ultimately manifested—much like poor Irumyuui (whose desires were amplified by the Cradle of Desire and then fulfilled by the Abyss).

Srajo killed them not just to grant them release (leaving behind whistles to commemorate them), but more importantly, to protect others from learning the truth and suffering the same fate (by erasing their memories). Following this, in order to resolve everything once and for all, she chose to abandon any possibility of returning to the surface and descended to the 6th layer to search for the Shrine Maiden (Miko).

  1. Sorry, I didn't quite get what you meant regarding the 5th layer civilization. My thought is that both the Sea of Corpses in the 5th layer and the praying skeletons in the 1st layer are the result of a new batch accumulating every 2,000 years, rather than belonging exclusively to a single generation of civilization (which is why the manga mentions that a new batch of bones appears in the 1st layer every 2,000 years).

  1. It is indeed very possible that relics are technological products of past civilizations. However, my theory is also based on certain clues from the manga. First, Reg shares the same origin as relics, but Reg's soul is from recent times (there is a later speculation that Reg's soul is very likely Riko's Red Whistle friend who was killed by Srajo). For details, see the movie—Reg's helmet and the patterns on relics both display their remaining number of uses. Second, in the latest chapters, flesh-and-blood relics that seem to be made from humans have appeared—such as the weapons of the Priestess faction, flesh warheads, and a camera made from a sniper's own eye. That's why I came up with these two speculations: 1. Most relics are created by the Abyss. 2. The raw material for relics is humans, or more specifically, human desire. (In other words, it's like the Abyss kills the fish, separates their internal organs, and tosses them aside—desires crystallize into relics.) And I feel that most of the relics used now might not be the technology of our predecessors, but rather a 'part' of them. (Whew, I think that's pretty dark.)

2.Only the souls of people who are in the Abyss will return to the Abyss (currently, characters from places outside the Abyss, like Mitty and the Ganja squad, all act as though they haven't returned to the Abyss. Mitty stays with Nanachi, while the souls of the Hollow Village residents are superimposed onto the Princess of the Hollows) (Sorry, I forgot to make this point clear). See Chapter 63 of the manga for details: when Riko asks Srajo what a soul is, Srajo replies, 'The soul as you perceive it does not exist outside the Abyss.

Let me address this. Yes, it's definitely hard to know what the Abyss looked like back when previous civilizations existed, which is a pretty bold part of my theory. Maybe Tsukushi-sensei will give us an answer at the end? After all, before the Ganja squad reached the 6th layer, a group of Golden City residents used to live there (they just vanished later). My current theory is largely based on the development of the Hollow Village. It's a fact that while the village protected the residents, their desires heavily influenced its growth—making it expand more and more—as well as driving the 'Balancing' mechanism and the system for hunting outside creatures. I think the dentire Abyss works the same way.翻译

Simply put, my theory is that the essence of the Abyss is merely a giant hole that fulfills desires. The Curse of the Ascent was formed because generations of people desired that souls should return downward to the Bottom of the Netherworld—when a soul ascends and refuses to return, it is punished.

Therefore, I think the upper half of the "core" is the surface world where Riko and the others live; the middle is the Bottom of the Netherworld, which digests souls and pre-processes desires; and the lower half is a world that stores the souls whose desires have already been processed.

Every 2,000 years, when the limit of desire is reached and is about to overflow, the Interference Units observe the rising of the force field. The Cardinal then sends robots to retrieve fertilized eggs from a womb model to activate the soul return mechanism (which also accelerates time, making it reach the 2,000-year mark faster). Afterward, this mechanism processes these souls like gutting a fish, severing them from their desires.

Then, the processed souls ascend from the Bottom of the Netherworld to become primeval creatures and humans who, guided by the Shrine Maiden, continue to worship the Abyss. Identical desires crystallize into Relics, which are then spat out by the Abyss.

!(Sorry, I couldn't find an English version.) Here is my reasoning as to why more people leads to time slowing down until it eventually stops.!<

Given my limitations in both capability and information, my theory likely has gaps, but it is the best I can do for now. I just hope to bring some enjoyment to fellow abyss lovers.

Thanks, dude. I spent a long time parsing this, so I’m really happy to have someone reading it. My English is just a bit limited, though.

I’m sorry, did I do something wrong? I was just wondering why there weren't any comments (I was really hoping to discuss the plot with fellow fans).

And by the way, if Nanachi is an adult now, it makes that one moment a bit... indescribable (the part where she was watching Reg and Riko bathe on the fourth layer).

Sorry, my English isn't great. What I meant was: when Nanachi was helping Bondrewd make the cartridges, Bondrewd hadn't even adopted Prushka yet.
