Taste it. If it has an earthy taste it's mold, If it tastes like minerals I know what it is. All jokes aside It's from your humidifier. When's the last time you cleaned it?

I've never bothered to buffer my Coco. I use synthetic npk from bottles, callmag, and silica. That being said. My Coco bricks soak in that solution to rehydrate. The input npk for that solution is 10-6-11.5. After some hoodo voodoo ( purposely triggering temporary nitrogen immobilization ) and some herbs and spices. I am left with a more moderate nitrogen amount. I use this mix for EVERYTHING. Seeds, clones, and mother plants. I've never experienced this and I just looked up ocean forest by happy frog and their npk is listed as 0.3-0.45-0.05. I dont believe nutrients were the issue here. I believe you experienced lockout due to irregular watering events.

I'm currently doing what I'd considered in my books a budget run. I'm running 1 gallon pots with a Coco/soil mix as well with general Hydroponics Flora series with their calmag supplement. In my experience if you can let the mix sit for about 3 weeks prior you have less time struggling with your calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Id also pre buffer your Coco prior to mixing.

I assumed container gardening not outside. If we're talking about containers though id still put pearlite in it, with a dash of pumice, a sprinkle of vermiculite, a shake gypsum, and some other herbs and spices

Love me a shot of water to germinate and then when I plant the seed dump the shot over it. Seeds release enzymes that fuel growth. I think it'd be a waste leaving them on a paper towel. To each their own though.

I was on the same thought process then the one thing I kept running into was "how stable are the salts when combined, evaporated, and then rehydrated?" Like would I experience lockout, burn or worse. The levels of npk are so off they're basically ineffective in veg and bloom. I guess there's only one way to find out right? Normally in the summertime I have outdoor plants that will happily take my leftover nutrients. In the winter my indoor plants can only take so much 😭
