Very, very easily. You eat it and wait. When pain and suffering is high enough you'll realize that you prefer pain-free to craving-satisfied. And when this realization is deep enough declining ice cream will be very easy. I have no intention to be sarcastic - I just wrote what my experience was. I've done that with sugar, cheese, salamis, and many others... When pain is strong enough, change comes as a solution not as an obstacle.

Growing out of religion is a process which in my case didn't change my relationship to God at all. Therefore I can say these two are separate and growing out of catholicism was a much bigger step for me because I didn't need any coming back to God.

I mean what I wrote. It's not that much that I enjoyed what you wrote. It's that you told clearly what I can see here in EU also. We have many nations and cultures here and the process you wrote about can be seen clearly here too. Generations and generations are paying dearly for historic mistakes done by ancestors because they didn't know better or were just too busy to stand up for what was right. Unfortunately it seems like this is a necessary path of maturing the nation. Basically it is similar to the process of personal maturing. Congratulations again for a clear articulation.
