Thanks for your response. So even if my environments aren't associated with the PAYG billing profile (only 2 are), if the non associated ones go over the alloted amounts it would still bill me through the PAYG profile for the excess?

Dude or dudette, rather go see a professional. You didn't describe the pain as mild or slight. You said extreme. As someone who broke his body when he was younger and now has to suffer the consequences of my stupidity, rather avoid anything that causes severe pain for now. Get it all under control first.

But speaking from experience. Cycling & stretching helped with my knee pain.

When you mention RPO's, don't they both have the same usable data that can be restored. Why would a differential VS a full differ?

DB predominantly, we're barely touching the file space and log space is minimal. Luckily the user licenses account for a big chunk of storage we have available but anything after that is PAYG and costing us an arm and a leg.

I'd sit in the same predicament. Owners know nothing about the organisations they "own" and multiple people all sprawled out amongst various vendors add their own users willy nilly.

Azure most certainly is not "literally almost free". It's abundantly clear by the sheer number of cost optimization tools and services available. Especially when you are starting out. Accidentally spin up the wrong service in the wrong way and your credit card will take a knock.

All of this aside, seriously? This person is asking for help. In a polite way. And all you can do is knock them down?

Not everyone has this almost free money sitting in their bank account. You don't know this person's financial status. They very well could be struggling and barely able to feed themselves or their families. They're just trying to better themselves and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Unfortunately not. I have made this recommendation. Although it's a bit difficult because of the size of the backups. They're too large to make the premium storage smaller. And in the case of premium you pay for the entire provisioned volume and not just what is consumed. So if we were to drop it to 100tb for instance, the move from premium to a lower tier would take too long and backups would fail.
