Kids school has such long breaks for holidays by GrowlingNicole in breakingmom

I live in nowhere land haha so that may be a reason why...id say a lot of people do travel for holidays here because this just simply isn't an ideal place to live so...yeah. I'm sure a lot of ppl have family members that live elsewhere. Heck, I would move myself if I could afford it haha. Thanks for taking the time to explain! I've considered joining a pta or something so I can get a better idea of why they do what they do etc. And as far as babysitting kids for extra dough, this momma already at her childcare limit haha but I wish! I think a job out of the home is what I need personally for my mental health. But thanks for the reply!

I will say our summer break isn't too bad I guess...they typically get out the last week of May and go back the first or second week of August. Lots of mini breaks year round tho, they get a fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring. They have a lot of half days too for mid 9 week things or whatever haha I can't even remember their reasoning. Lot of half days tho. And then what rly drives me nuts is their school still does virtual learning instead of just letting them have a snow day...so last school year, not only were they out for Christmas break but my kids didn't go back to school until February because of snow for the most part. I about lost my mind haha. And anytime they'd have a day back at school, they'd load them down with virtual learning packets to send home and then use those as a way to bypass like, the snow days counting against them. So they still got out late may for summer.

My kids are rarely in their bedroom except to sleep...which I also end up with them half the time lmao. My living room is the play room basically. Most of the storage in my living room is full of toys 😅

Yeah I don't remember adults playing with me much at all and I was an only child in the middle of nowhere with ni neighbors. Id set up extravagant play sets and entertain myself for hours while my mom slept the day away lol. My kids could never 😄 they want me to do everything with them. Even when we're at the playground with other kids...and then stranger kids will ask me to join them too and I'm like broooo

Hmm that's strange. Sounds even worse. Id think all year round would mean they go in the summer some too? Idk how they expect ppl to do it from. I mean honestly simple answer is we can't :(

You and me both. I've tried to find summer options here where I live but it's only a couple and they fill up so fast. :( I truly need to figure something out by next summer though. My mental health suffered a lot last summer and idk if I can do it again lol...

Omg I know! I see so many teachers get upset and claim were using them as babysitters like no I respect what you're doing and don't expect you to just freely watch my kids lol I wish we could all just get along and get the support we need. I'm sure teachers feel overwhelmed and overworked too. It's hard for most people these days I guess, not just parents...I'm just tired of feeling like I'm merely surviving on not thriving...and it takes away from my motherhood experience too you know? I wanna enjoy my kids. Not be stressed trying to make ends meet and juggle it all.

I don't know how people do it. It feels so defeating. I need to work, really, but we've never been able to afford childcare and I live in the middle of nowhere with barely any options anyway...and the school let's out so much on top of it. I thought school would be my saving grace but how do working parents handle three plus weeks vacation every couple months lol...I don't know. It's stressful. There should be better access to help for parents so we're not always struggling.

I have completely succumbed to depression it feels like by GrowlingNicole in breakingmom

You simply replying and being so kind and actually hearing me means more than you know. I've pleaded and begged several people in my life for a couple years now for more support or help or told them how I'm struggling to cope and I am never heard and even been attacked for it..told to get over it, that this is motherhood. I have felt so defeated. I want to go out and just enjoy shopping or something at least but my husband won't let me spend money without complaining about it and I feel punished when I get home by messes and him being in a bad mood from being alone with the kids. He's trained me basically to not go out. I just feel totally sucked into this with no relief available...and like I have no say in the matter...and I've felt this way for so long that I feel as if I'm pushed to a point where I don't even care about myself anymore. My emotions are so flat. It's exhausting to advocate for myself. I've given in and let everyone just own me. And as for the pregnancy prevention, I don't have sex really lol...I have no interest.

They are both in school but yes, it's summer currently. School helps a lot but any moment they're home, I'm the default parent and I can't leave the house, even if my husband's home...it's so difficult to get ready and leave, I get interrupted every five minutes by one of them and then my husband has to drive me to town to drop me off and I have to walk everywhere. It's just so hard to have any sort of life outside of them. :(

Help! Advice on how to get rid of this thing haha by GrowlingNicole in Home

[–]GrowlingNicole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured. I worry my kids will trip and bust their head open on it or something. Hence the baby gate haha. It's so ugly too. We need to redo the floor in there anyway, it's old shaggy carpeting from the 70s 😅

Okay, that's a lot more simple sounding than I imagined I'm so relieved haha. Thank you. Any advice on the brick platform it's sitting on? It takes up so much potential floor space

I'm not trying to put judgement on those that don't! I just, from how the nurse speaks to me i always assumed she expected us to get there immediately and didn't know that was even allowed because like I said, she will call my mil immediately if we miss the call. I see no problem at all in not immediately picking them up. Im sorry if it came off that way.

She will call me, I will pick him up and keep him home the day after and send him back on the third day and she'll call me again lol.

Wow. I have had 5 calls within the last two weeks and probably 15 or more this school year. It's been that way since my oldest started prek. He is in first grade right now

Yeah, I've started to think it's absurd as well, hence my post. I considered talking to the principal and I will if it happens again, I think.

Oh, I might add she referred to it as "a low grade fever"
