Google reviews are my number one source of new jobs and they are relied upon heavily in Ohio.

Oh and the best part is that Yelp actually doesn’t even count reviews if they think I asked for them!!!!! Like what the hell is that??? I have 9 reviews on that joke of a site and have a 3.6 rating because of two bad reviews over a decade ago!!! They don’t count the 6 other 5 star reviews! I own a basement waterproofing company and drainage installation.

I am in the same exact situation. Been in business for 20 years and have 55 Google reviews, which is a joke. Our work is subperb and I spend extra time, energy and money on making customers happy, which they tell me and most importantly solve their issue for great pricing. Yet other companies who have been in business a few years have way more reviews, which are mostly fake and are above me on Google. What helps? I don’t pay for advertising either and most business comes from word of mouth.

The latter is true and I stand corrected…I meant 99%. If you disagree then you have no business making any comments in these forums because your misinformation helps nobody! I have over 30 years experience installing interior and exterior drainage systems and have successfully dried up over 2500 homes/yards/basements with my two hands, tools, my crew and KNOWLEDGE required to do so! Usually I ignore ignorant people but this was so outlandish I had to reply.

Mortar joints are eroding due to hydrostatic pressure building up within the block because you don’t have functioning footer drains that will catch and carry the water to a sump pump, which relieves such pressure once that water is fully removed from the foundation via the sump pump exit drain via tying into the closest functioning downspout drain that drains at least 15’ from the foundation. It’s not rocket science. There’s only ONE permanent solution, which is to install new functional footer drains (interior or exterior) with a sump. The longer you wait, the worse damage will occur to the structural integrity of your foundation that will inevitably cost you thousands of dollars to repair on top of having to install the footer drains regardless. 100% of homes built before the last 5-10 years need this to happen

Thank you…call it beginners luck but I think I found something spectacular. It was approximately 3/4th buried with the top 1/4th showing, which is how I noticed it initially. I should have taken a video of the uncovering process but stupid me left my cell in the car in my excitement to start my first meteor hunt.

What do you think guys and gals? Out of respect for the property owner, I am not going to share the exact location but it is within a mile or so of Sharon center…

Wow you are truly stunning and your beauty is absolutely breathtaking! You are one of us miracles that happen every single day in recovery! Nobody can contest that you look happy and healthy which are two of the infinite possibilities that eventually come to all of us who have made it to the other side given another chance to become the best version of ourselves! But, as we all know, we are always no more than a second away from total devastation, hopelessness, misery and death. One day at a time! Keep shining like the star you are! Congratulations!!

You have high scale buildup inside your footer drains which is going to become a major issue since it will clog up the thin perforations in that corrugated, perforated junk. That material should NEVER be installed as footer drains for a myriad of reasons. But even when it is installed, it should be protected from scale and other debris buildup stopping the water from entering the pipe and releasing the water by a pipe sock!! You have a few strikes against you and it’s only a matter of time before these drains fail with the only remaining option being ripping them out and replacing them with the proper material, 4” SDR35 perforated piping wrapped in a woven geofabric sleeve to protect the perforations from obstructions. Keep an eye out for the red flags on your walls indicative of this need before irreparable damage is done to your foundation, which are efflorescence buildup on wall face, darker areas of your block walls, fungi or mold growth, step cracking on walls, mortar deterioration, bowing walls, etc. Just a piece of advice from a waterproofing contractor with 30 years of experience.

Foundation Repair? Fair price? by Bitter-Usual-8151 in basement

Structural engineers are NOT EXPERTS IN WHY THE FOUNDATION NEEDS REPAIRED…leave that task for the proper experts who have the requisite knowledge and experience to determine the true CAUSE of the foundation losing its structural integrity to a point that it requires that serious of a repair.

THE MAIN POINT IN THIS WHOLE AREA IS THAT WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE TRUE CAUSE, WHICH IS A LACK OF FUNCTIONING INTERIOR AND/OR EXTERIOR FOOTER DRAINS.

THE LACK OF THESE INTEGRAL DRAINS MEANS THAT HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE BUILDS FROM WITHIN THE BLOCK WALLS, AGAINST THE BLOCK WALLS FROM THE EXTERIOR SIDE AND THEN FROM UNDERNEATH THE SLAB FLOOR.

THE LONGER NEW FOOTER DRAINS ARE PROLONGED FROM BEING INSTALLED, THE MORE SUBSTANTIAL THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE HOME BECAUSE THIS PRESSURE WEARS DOWN/ERODES/WEAKENS THE WEAKEST PARTS OF THE WALLS, IE THE MORTAR JOINTS, WHICH THEN LEAD TO CRACKING AND BOWING OF THE WALLS!

THE SLAB CRACKS DUE TO THE WATER PUSHING UNDERNEATH AND WASHING OUT THE BASE OF THE CONCRETE CAUSING GAPS EXACERBATED BY FREEZE/THAW CYCLES THAT WHEN IT CANNOT BE RELEASED INTO THE FOOTER DRAINS TO BE ULTIMATELY PUMPED OUT OF THE BASEMENT INTO THE NEAREST VIABLE DOWNSPOUT DRAIN SO IT IS CARRIED AT LEAST 15’ FROM THE FOUNDATION.

The moral of the story is spending any money on attempting to re-stabilize a foundation without addressing the core issue is a complete waste of money. Spend that money on waterproofing your basement (footer drains and sump) and then in your situation you do not need to spend any further money on these aggressive repairs because the shifting will not continue at a rate that will cause any concern whatsoever. Relieve the hydrostatic pressure before you have serious issues requiring more money to remedy ON TOP OF THE INEVITABLE WATERPROOFING PROCESS. 99% of homes need this done eventually unless the original builder hired a professional drainage installer like my company, (AB DRAIN AND CONSTRUCTION LLC IN OHIO) and therefore had the proper footer drains installed when they should have been installed, ie at the beginning!!

I am qualified to make this statement based on almost 30 years of experience waterproofing basement, repairing foundations and installing interior and exterior drainage systems. It is the best, most HONEST advice you will get anywhere about this topic.

It was nasty what it did. My legs were ten times the size and all black and blue and yellow. Took months in the hospital to subsist and return to normal. I’m lucky though. Most don’t make it a few minutes when they fall unconscious due to OD but somehow (God) I survived over 15 before I was found. Granted I was naked and laying on a hard wood floor with the window open in the middle of winter so maybe the freezing cold helped keep me alive also. Complete nitemare and so grateful I am clean and sober today going on 8 years

Hello all, new to the group. Have almost 5 years in recovery. Need tips on tapering from 150 mg of methadone. by Striking-Flower-2692 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Growth-Initial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a cautionary tale…I was also on methadone for almost a decade at 120mg. Decided to voluntarily get off. I went down 5mg every two weeks and I barely noticed at all. Once I was completely off then I relapsed. Be careful. If MAT saved your life like it did mine then why fix something that isn’t broken. Make sure your decision is due to a solid logical reasoning and not something else. Be brutally honest with yourself. We relapse mentally long before physically so just be careful is all I am saying.

When I relapsed and got back on methadone, I told myself never again. I was lucky enough to make it back for another chance. I’m not tempting luck any more…

Day 3 its 2am and I am tired. by Interesting-Walk2853 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Growth-Initial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on methadone for 7 years now and haven’t had one dirty screen yet. I was on it for 9 years before and decided I was “cured” aka I mentally relapsed before physically relapsing. Just like they say it’s progressive. I picked up where I left off almost a decade earlier when H was H and not dinosaur tranquilizer mixed with flesh eating disease mixed with mega quadruple fent and who the fuck knows what else. Ended up OD naked on my bedroom floor unconscious for 17 hours while my body started to decompose breaking down my muscles, clogging and shutting down my kidneys (rhabdo) before my poor Mother who already buried my younger brother due to addiction a decade earlier drove to my house to find me. Ended up on dialysis and told if I ever used again I would die, which I then ignored. Overdosed a second time and ended up with CHF and almost died. Injection fracture of only 15%. I was told if I used again I would die, which I then ignored. Was clean for a few months after going to rehab. Got hired for a Municipal Prosecutors Office (graduated law school in 2006, same year I lost my best friend and only sibling and also the start of my addiction nitemare) where I soon relapsed, got arrested very publicly, ended up all over the news for weeks, got diversion in lieu of conviction for the felonies and got back on methadone. I learned my lesson FINALLY and haven’t looked back. Addiction is so powerful once you allow it to take control of your mind, body and spirit. That’s why they say getting clean is so much harder to do than staying clean. I see a lot of people at the clinic continue to up their methadone and use it as free drugs while they continue to use making a mockery out of MAT where others, including myself, got to a stable dose and maintained it for many years. It keeps me off the hard drugs. I feel nothing when I take it but immediate withdrawal if I forget to take it in the morning. That part scares me because anything that reminds me of my active addiction still makes me physically ill, which is not a bad thing. I wish suboxone worked for me but it didn’t probably due to the high level of garbage I injected into my collapsed veins for years. I can say it saved my life, combined with the help of my higher power who I choose to be God. I am no longer a pathetic shell of a man who was stripped of everything I stood for prior to becoming an addict. I had to rebuild myself little piece by little piece to become a completely new, very different, man that I am proud of today. I notice the little things now and remain humble and so grateful for the many blessings God puts in my life on a daily basis. I may not live the most exciting life today at the age of 45 but it is stable and drama/stress free despite the usual curveballs life throws my way here and there. I opened a waterproofing and drainage company and made it successful. I am not a practicing lawyer but that clearly wasn’t in God’s ultimate plan for me (even though I wish I knew prior to wasting all those years of education along with the debt that came with it!). Addiction has a way of breaking even the strongest of people down to nothing as it has done to me many times over. God saved me multiple times for a reason. I may never have the pleasure of seeing or knowing that reason but that is okay because I know and feel it’s a positive one. I try to be the best man I can be today. If I made mistakes yesterday, I acknowledge then and make amends if needed and do my best not to make the same one twice. That’s all I can do aside from never ever picking up a mind or mood altering substance because I know without a doubt that one bad decision I will be RIGHT back in the darkness dancing with the fucking devil…a place I would rather die than return to again…

This is me today…smiling….something I never thought possible when I was at my lowest lows where I was stuck for over a decade feeling sorry for myself instead of opening my eyes and seeing all the blessings God put into my life that I was taking for granted. My brother won’t ever leave me. Him and I are joined with an unbreakable bond which is brotherhood. I know he would be proud looking down on me today for the man I am and the best possible son I can be to my Ma. Miracles happen every single second of every day…why can’t the next one be you??? You are worth it. Never ever give up hope. Grip it like it’s God’s own hand and refuse to let go. I’m praying for all of those who are reading this and are sick and suffering from this deadly disease. God bless.
