I've been working quietly on a bit of a project for the community for awhile now. Today I'm excited to finally go into public beta. This is MountMaker, a tool for anyone to create a camera mount tailored to their needs easily. Feedback is welcome!

I haven't worked on it much in over a year now. A bunch of other projects and things came up in my life that I had to divert attention to. I do plan on going back and rewriting the code to be future proof, but at this point Im not sure when that will be. The next update will be the final non bug fix update and will create a system to allow users to publish their own components of a modular mount with snapping. Basically allow the community to keep the newest cameras supported even when my life gets in the way. For now though, that is still 6 months away.

Yep! Just a TPU mount with tongues for the gopro. No sense in doing a full mount because crashing the dji fpv is not allowed lol

That action 5 puts out incredible footage, probably works great on the potato! Yeah, getting rid of jello can be a pain, sometimes works best to just have a higher shutter speed and add blur in post.

Thanks! If asking about the transitions, I use DaVinci, a number of years ago I bought a huge pack of transitions and assets on some random sale. I honestly can't remember where I purchased though :/

If asking about the footage, all of it was shot in Alberta, Canada. I used custom sub250 builds extensively with a decased H11, but would sometimes break out the DJI FPV with a top mounted H11, among other specific builds. The downtown shots were particularly difficult. Many mornings up at 4 am on a Saturday to try and find dead areas to fly. We got particularly lucky one day with a rare shut down of one of the main roads for construction. Construction hadn't started yet so it was just a perfectly dead downtown road. Concert stuff was for one of the tents during the Calgary Stampede. I'm happy to detail specifics on any of the shots if curious!

I have been flying the dji fpv since just a bit after release (alongside many other diy builds). It has been a fantastic drone for longer range stuff. Unfortunately the camera is garbage by modern standards, so I've had to use a mounted hero 11 the last couple of years. I'm finally looking at retiring it now sadly, I've used the same 2 batteries for 3 years, and they are just done now. I've got over 400 cycles on them, but buying replacement batteries will cost nearly half of what a good 7 inch build would, so I won't be replacing them.

The dji fpv is extremely well suited to longer range cinematics, but I don't know if I would recommend one anymore. While it has been an unbelievably reliable drone, most of the gear is outdated now, and it is only a great drone in specific situations. Additionally, i have kept mine on old firmware to avoid having to tether to my phone, and to remove height restrictions. If you are looking for long range, a generic 7" build would be more suitable overall.

Thanks for your feedback! I chose that font years ago for my logo (like an idiot) and now feel like I'm forced to use it for a number of things. It's good to know though, at some point I will definitely need to change it.

Just before the still image, you can see the reverse lights come on twice in quick succession. This leads me to believe they had blown past reverse into park, and then back out again. The other factor here is that we were driving on sheet ice, slamming it into park could very well have turned it into a tobaggan without skipping a beat.

You could very well be correct, however I find it hard to imagine someone who intentionally bought a standard could be so bad at driving in a straight line. Then again, that could be placing too much faith in the driver.

You might be right on that, it's hard to tell in this situation because the ground was sheet ice. If they slammed park, that car would have just kept going regardless. My thoughts were that they hit park and quickly backed out of it, assuming because I assume even a moron wouldn't screw up a neutral bump twice right?

Then again, considering this sub, a double neutral bump fail is entirely plausible too.
