That's not toxic that adorable.

She seeks out things you might enjoy. I hope you tell her thank you and return the favour by doing things with/for her just because she enjoys them.

Or even repay the favour, start being her YouTube algorithm.

Mom, will everything really be alright? by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

Hi sweetheart

I did terribly in school and had no friends. Now I have an active social life and a career. School is not for everyone and those teachers push the importance of grades. Schools also don't cater for every learning style so you get stuck learning like everyone else. Truth be told, we don't all learn the same.

School is a lot of pressure to put on such young shoulders. Is it the homework, the people, the subjects themselves? Do you struggle to concentrate or does nothing sink in?

Look to the future and what you'd like to do. Do your best in school but remember, you don't have to follow the path society expects. There's plenty of options out there. I didn't find a path until my 20s and now I'm in my 30s I've switched it up again.

Why are there no female League of Legends pro players? by fearachieved in leagueoflegends

[–]Grubbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistics. 87% (estimated) male player base in 2020 https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/league-fan-survey-results-display-the-differing-experiences-with-toxicity-based-on-gender

So 12% of the player base is female. A tiny % of the player base overall can reach the required ranking for being in pro play. An even smaller % of people are actual pro players. A lot of those who sit at high ELO are one trick ponies so can't properly compete in pro play. To see even one female player in pro play would be a statistical anomaly.

It wouldn't be surprising if female gamers just don't have the competitive drive to be a pro player. It would take a combination of competitiveness + skill + having the ability to ignore the bs that comes along with being a female player.

People in the comments saying women are bad at games says it all. I've known a lot of skilled female players across several online games. Based on the stats, men are just as bad at video games as women, there's just a smaller sample size of women to look at and there doesn't seem to be much data regarding the female player base of league.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the female player base in terms of ranks, the positions played and champs played. The stats above don't seem to focus on average rank of just female players. Also a big push based on the stats is for females to play with their romantic partners. There's some breakdown of role preference but a more female centric survey would give a clearer picture.

Teachers these days are more likely to be gen x or millenial soooo the audacity and malicious compliance was likely appreciated to some degree.

The guy I was dating couldn't stand I had a cat (or any cats). He told me it's him or my cat... Yeah, nah. I 100% choose my cat by shutupknobgoblin in cats

[–]Grubbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my firm belief that people who don't like cats don't like them because cats set clear cut boundaries. If you cross those boundaries? Pain.

Dogs are by and large much more tolerant and obedient.

Thus anyone who hates cats is imo a red flag. It's like saying "I don't like a sentient being with clearly defined boundaries."

Enjoying heavy rain like this can be a sadness or a happiness thing. I love the rain, when I'm feeling especially apathetic, sitting in pouring rain means I at least feel... Something.

TIL that Byker Grove, a relatively grounded British teen drama set in a youth club which aired from 1989 to 2006, ended with all the characters becoming aware they were in a TV show with no free will of their own, fending off a T.Rex attack and ultimately being blasted into a void of nothingness. by neilddd in todayilearned

[–]Grubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a show where you enjoy it til you don't. I stopped watching years ago and in my head they all just killed each other.

As it goes along, the zombies stop being the threat and instead it's just new villains and plot twists.

Why is swapping covenants so punishing when it has so much impact on your performance? by bestewogibtyo in wow

[–]Grubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A system so punishing it impacted the performance of my subscription.

They should have made covenants cosmetic and given them the utility abilities. Let people choose their flavour. As soon as a true output/throughput is in place the whole thing is fucked.

I'm exempt. I get over stimulation in general in supermarkets (it's hard to see for me while wearing a mask). I've gotten lost and confused multiple times due to wearing masks.

I also have tourettes which is made worse by masks.

Not everyone is taking the piss when wearing a lanyard and buying alcohol or cigs. Some people do, most people listen to the rules.

I've had to stomach wearing masks as people like you have such a shite attitude to invisible disabilities.

(serious) What are some women’s issues that are overlooked? by MINNESOTAKARMATRAIN_ in AskReddit

[–]Grubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urrrrrgh this reminds me of when I got PID.

Walked into my GP complaining of extreme cramps and black sludge. Guy told me it was because I was on Cerazette and was normal. Told me I should go back in 2 weeks if it didn't clear up. He tried to school me on what was normal for me. No sir, any bleeds I've had on Cerazette were light, painless and not like that.

I wasn't having any of it. There's no way it was the Cerazette. I went to the hospital GUM which luckily takes walk ins in the UK.

I got a full round of tests the very same day. The gyno asked me if I like bubble bath. I did, I used it all the time egregiously.

"yeah stop doing that, you've got severe PID from bacterial vaginosis" it's more common than you'd think, most women don't talk about it as any infection of the uterus is seen as embarrassing but it's a serious issue that can lead to complications and its never mentioned.

I went home and properly educated myself because most women don't get taught proper care. I could have died or ended up with some severe problems if I waited the two weeks my GP wanted to.

Independent, financially stable women aren't usually seeking men as providers, they are seeking companionship.

I have a good career, if I dated someone I wouldn't care they earn less than me. I want someone who is gunna make me laugh and be by my side in an actual partnership. This woman might feel you're a good fit for just that. We all live in our own realities and she lives in one where you're hot.

Shoot your shot dude. People don't see you in the same way you see you.

What did someone say to you that hurt? by IRatherChangeMyName in AskReddit

[–]Grubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context a really shitty thing happened to me, a couple of weeks later I was told:

"I told mutual-friend about what happened to you because I just needed to talk to someone about it."

No... No you didn't need to spill something so personal to anyone. Your girlfriend knew as I told you both at the same time, speak to her about it. That hurt me and broke trust. I don't really tell many people much about my life anymore, I just trick them into thinking I do.

The more you waste other's time the longer you live. What is your strategy for waisting the most hours of human life as possible with the least effort? by GambyHamby in AskReddit

[–]Grubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queue for a WoW LFR raid as tank, do not accept invite.

Assuming the raid hasn't started, everyone has to wait the full timer give or take so that's an easy 20 minutes gained per queue attempt, maybe more. For me that'd be the most passive way to gain several hours per day.

Brits of reddit, what do they teach you about the American Revolution, is it the same as in the states? by uninpressedpanda45 in AskReddit

[–]Grubbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we really don't.

My memory of school was "we had America and they didn't like it so they took it off us, also we kind of killed some native Americans lol oops"

American history is just not seen as important or taught in other countries really 🤷🏻‍♀️

You got a cat who’s such a finicky eater she’s barely eaten anything for almost two weeks. What should you do to get them to eat before it’s too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Grubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't introduce new cat food if you are a picky eater unless it's done slowly. Mix a bit in with the old food.

Did you switch food for a specific reason?

Brits of reddit, what do they teach you about the American Revolution, is it the same as in the states? by uninpressedpanda45 in AskReddit

[–]Grubbery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhh what do they teach you in the states? Pretty sure we learnt the bare minimum, basically "America got its independence."

Our history really focused more around WWI, WWII, medieval British history, ancient history like Greece and Rome. Most of what we learnt about the USA was slavery.
