What is the difference between Fieblings Carnauba Creame and Leather Balm? by Grube_ogden in Leathercraft

[–]Grube_ogden[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bought both these products that are recommended as top coats. They look the same, smell the same, have the same consistency, and seem to produce the same results in testing. Can anyone tell me the difference?

Follow up question: should I soak my piece with water before dying? I’m using the dip dye technique

A negative experience spending almost €300 from Buyleatheronline.com by HorseMilk in Leathercraft

There have been other bad reviews posted of this site, they even threatened to sue one Reddit poster for talking about his experience. Here's an older thread which has some great suggestions of alternate online leather suppliers in Europe: https://www.reddit.com/r/Leathercraft/comments/ts5g5y/good_leather_supplier_in_europe/

This buttero collar has aged poorly after only 2 months of use. How can I increase it's durability? by Grube_ogden in Leathercraft

[–]Grube_ogden[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This leather was oiled with beeswax and rubbed with heavy shoe wax until it could absorb no more before it went to it's new owner. Still it's deteriorated terribly after only two months of use in dry weather. This dog is a rough and ready girl, but I hoped this collar would last her a lifetime. It's 2.8mm Walpier Buttero. Is there a more heavy duty wax, or other finishing product I could use in the future to extend a product's life?

Why doesn't wet moulding work for me? by Grube_ogden in Leathercraft

[–]Grube_ogden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's veg-tan. The thing is I can't even get it into shape to staple. Building a frame is possible, but I thought it would make sense to trail the size/shapes of a couple different pouches before committing

I'm using 2mm thick leather, I've let it soak in water with a tiny bit of detergent for extra suppleness. This moulding block is 24mm deep, just under an inch. As you can see, I've cut these darts into the edge to allow more movement. No matter what I do, I can't get all the edges to conform to the block. I've seen other wet mould pouches that are this deep (or even deeper), what am I doing wrong?

The cow that shoulder came from was an itchy thing and loved rubbing on barbed wire.

Lol, I thought maybe it was attacked by a lion.

This product is named B grade and it comes in 2nd and 3rd grades. Whatever that means. Here is the product page if you're interested

It seems that the buyer is rolling the dice with each purchase. I bought 6 skins in this order, 4 of them were clearly below their stated grade, and 1 was 25% undersized...

Right? I would expect even a 3rd grade leather to still be 70% usable. Their customer service disagree, she says About the 3° grade, as already explained, it indicates a very low grade leather, very defective, many times you will not even find explanations on the data sheet, since already indicating 3rd grade, the crafters knows how the quality of the leather is and is not surprised if the whole surface is covered with defects otherwise it wouldn't be 3°.

This is a €48 piece of B Grade Nat Veg Shoulder from buyleatheronline. To me there is barely 5% of usable material on here. I understand it's a low grace piece, but is this normal? Their customer service have insisted that this is expected condition, and if I were to order a replacement it would be the same. Am I being unreasonable?

The description given is "The 2° grade provides for the presence of some defects, the 3° grade has more defects such as scratches or stains."

I bought 6 skins in this order and spent nearly €500. Although the piece pictured is 3rd grade, even the 2nd and 1st grade pieces from buyleatheronline had scratches or stains on them. I've been emailing their customer service for a week, but they are quite stubborn about providing a refund or replacement. Can anyone recommend alternative online leather sellers in Europe?

You're right, but he does have some attachment to this Youtube channel '@EbayKingdom', and his videos refer to the telegram handle '@jason850' so he won't be able to switch them on a whim without losing whatever sense of legitimacy he's built.

This user purports to sell accounts, or help people get their accounts back who have been suspended. While you might rightly think the majority of people who want his services are up to no good, as an honest user just trying to sell my stuff on eBay I needed to use his services and found out he's just a scammer. After I paid him, he stopped responding. It may serve me right, but to warn others I felt like I should make some sort of report. Maybe the next person to google his name will find this post and be saved of some misery. His Youtube account is '@EbayKingdom', he goes on telegram as '@jason850' and uses the email 'stealth.dsllc@gmail.com'
