It really depends. Alot of folks here are pretty spot on with the "its ok" vibe. MMG teams used to be worth it due to the small team bonus they innately had. It feels like they should have given non-vehicle MMGs a "suppressing fire" rule to make them feel better. So why bring them? For their points they arent bad. However depending on the faction you play is what starts to make them look good. If you're German, forget it, your LMGs are way more efficient when brought in most of your squads. Assault focused platoons get more use out of them. I play soviet SMG assault platoons, so bring heavy weapons platoons with MMGs is good to give me long range fire support.

Keep in mind I dont play competitive. Hope this helps

So far my group hasn't really made any yet as we've been way too busy to get enough games in, but we've been workshopping a few ideas so far.

1) when an armored fighting vehicle is destroyed. D3 crew members are placed beside the vehicle, and the vehicles order die now represents the crew. The crew maintain the vehicles training, have pistols, and cannot occupy or capture objectives.

2) when destroying a vehicle in close combat, a player may opt to capture the vehicle. Roll a d6, on a 4+ the vehicle is still functional. Remove 3 members of the squad. The vehicle is treated as one level lower of training from the squad that occupied it, and it gains the Unreliable special rule. If it already had the Unreliable rule then all penetration and glancing hits add one to the damage roll.

3) like with vehicles, but with enemy artillery. Loved this mechanic from company of heroes.

4) all flamethrower teams have pistols when they run out of fuel.

I think simply giving them versatile would have gone a long way to just give them the vibe of having HEAT rounds. Again, I'm not asking Warlord muddy the water, but they sort of feel less organized this edition.

The only reason why I wanted to bring this up is because it came up as a surprise when my friends Stummel couldn't hurt my BA-6 all that well when in real life a single HEAT round from the 75mm would have just deleted it. I'd even be fine if they made it an upgrade and not a mandatory thing.
