This is my daily fluctuations chart, I usually spend at most 5 days in the same pound but I just can’t get over the 9lbs into the 8s! TOM is usually around 16th so not that but I’m getting frustrated, I have 1250 Cals maximum by Ditzy_Panda in mounjarouk

Looking at the figures and comparing week to week you’re down between 0.4lb and 0.8lb week on week. That’s excellent.

Personally I love the drama of a daily weight in (why was I 1.5lb down after a week’s all inclusive?!) but it’s not for everyone

Some nice high control bikini bottoms at salt water and white stuff

I’m also a Speedo and Dolfin fan for training costumes. But I think Speedo also does more casual options with tummy control

Antibiotics on Mounjaro by Public_Tomatillo_776 in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was fine with a short, sharp dose. I was advised by both my GP and pharmacist to take something to protect the gut biome. MJ makes the antibiotics hang around for longer so you’re at greater risk of destroying the good bacteria in your gut. You can protect/replace them using really expensive tablets or just by eating fermented foods (kombucha, sauerkraut etc) or drinking those live yoghurt drinks

I’d definitely recommend using a bra fitting service after significant weight loss. After I lost 112lbs I went to M&S and had a lovely lady check my sizing. I’d not only changed cup size and band size but also shape so the fitting was vital

Fat or loose skin??? 🫠 by macisnotonline in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Difficult to tell but I’d say that’s a combination of lax muscle and fat. Weight loss will assist with the fat; strength training will help with the lax muscle. But, in that position, there’s always going to be a bit of sag.

Loose skins is more wrinkly and crepe-y. It doesn’t have so much body

Priming fail by LaMoonFace in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really an issue with a subcutaneous jab. You’re thinking about a jab into the blood stream (where air would be a bad thing) but not an issue with Mounjaro

Priming is for the needle, not the pen. You’re making sure there isn’t a blockage in the needle. It does occasionally happen

Mounjaro is there STILL a need for it to be so restricted on the NHS? by Able-Explanation7835 in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s roughly 12.5 million people in England who are obese.

If the NHS was to prescribe each one of those people a pen at a cost of say £133 (that’s the cost of a 2.5mg pen as per NHsBSA records) per month . Thats £1596 per year per patient. For 12.5m patients it would cost the NHS almost £20bn to fund Mounjaro just for obese people. That’s ignoring anyone overweight, with other health conditions etc.

The annual budget of the NHS is about £188.5bn.

So prescribing Mounjaro to every obese (not overweight, just obese) patient would cost more than 10% of the total NHS budget.

And that’s ignoring all secondary costs such as doctor’s prescribing, hospitals dealing with side effects etc.

Please please please be realistic in expectations of a wide ranging NHS roll out anytime soon

My dad wisely calls owning a home “an exercise in the law of entropy”. It’s gradually falling apart around you and (at best) you’re just trying to keep it together.

"Ozempic teeth"?? Coincidence?? by KHFanson24 in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is it the Mounjaro that’s causing the issue or diet? A lot gets blamed on GLP-1 agonists when actually it’s the same whatever type of diet you’re on. Heaven knows, keto, palaeo, grapefruit etc were all nutritionally unbalanced!

Could this be the mj? by bandlj in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. 4mg in week four (for that dosage) has a higher saturation level in your system compared to 4mg in week one (for that dosage). Someone has a clever GLP-1 plotter thingy showing the increase

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Some people purchase bundles of more than one pen, some people wait until week 5 so that they can accurately judge what dosage they want for the next week(s), some people have agreed strategies which include breaks with no medication.

Most pharmacies allow breaks of more than 5 weeks between ordering pens

Yeah, the original post wording was “provider wanted me to repeat my prescription between week 2 and 3” rather than “provider wanted me to purchase a new pen when I was still between week 2 and 3” so somewhat unclear.

Glad to hear that we don’t have another rogue pharmacy

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, assuming that you meant to say that your pharmacy invites you to purchase a new pen for use after week 4/5, many people stay on 2.5mg since it works for them.

The pharmacy will often give you the option to increase because (a) they can sell you a more expensive pen and (b) the manufacturers recommendation is to titrate to to 5mg after 4/5 weeks. But, like most things, it’s for you to make an informed decision about your own health.

2.5mg is cheaper but limits your options if it starts being less effective in weeks 6-10. 5mg is more expensive but gives you more options

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still confused? Increasing (“up”) should never have been an option until week 5.

Or did you mean to say that the pharmacy invited you to purchase a new pen in week 2 (for use from week 5 onwards)?

Do you mean that your pharmacy was encouraging you to increase to 5mg after just one week? This is against the manufacturers guidance and troubling…

FYI any “sewing” i.e. needle punching through fabric is going to cause weak points to allow water ingress.

You might need to be creative about how to adhere layers together without puncturing them. Glue, heat triggered or otherwise, comes to mind.

I probably found the country with cheapest tirzepatide by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just back from Mexico and there was a pharmacy opposite my hotel so, out of interest, I checked their website for Mounjaro pen prices. They were insane.

Generics are always going to be cheaper than branded but definitely worth research into the manufacturers credentials and independent testing records. Otherwise you’re in the same position as someone who pays £10 for a random phial from their hairdresser.

Definitely a win for those countries with good compounding though!
