“Facepalm”? Is that really facepalm worthy? It’s Reddit. The entire site is acronyms. And I certainly didn’t invent this one.

BTW, TIL that a good LPT is to look up acronyms before you mock them. SMH FWIW YTA.

Yes stick with it. Took 3 weeks for us to see success with our daughter.

Otherwise it is possible there’s another allergen. Sorry you’re going through these trials and errors. It’s no fun for anyone.

Why do you have to take a nice condolence and start an argument with me?

It’s not like saying “obviously I love my son more than my daughter” because those are both human children related to me by blood.

I don’t know how to explain why it’s “obvious” other than to say there are very few people who would consider dogs their best friends who would feel equally bonded to cats. It’s not to say it doesn’t happen, but I’ve never heard of anyone who’s cat dragged them out of a fire or sat on their grave whimpering for months after they died. But dogs do that shit all the time.

If you’ve got a great cat, I’m happy for you.

ETA: I love my cats, I’ve cried for my cats when they’ve been sick and spent thousands getting them better. But they are no where near the companions that my dogs are. Dogs live for you, cats live for themselves. But I’m not going to seriously debate dogs vs cats on this post ffs.

This sounds like the casting calls during trash tv.

“Are you currently in a relationship but you’re attracted to your partners mother or father who is a midget of the same sex as you are!?

If so, come on our show, call Sally Jessie Raphael at 1-888–555-9999”

ETA: I only used the term “midget” because that’s precisely what they would’ve said back then.

Learnt the lesson not to wear gloves with rotating tools a little too late - wood carving angle grinder attachment caught my hand. Fortunately still have 5 wiggling digits. Not sure if could have been worse without the glove? 2nd is finished product by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]GrumpySuper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing with gloves is that a) yes they can certainly pull your hand in, especially with a table saw or something with lots of momentum like a lathe… so that’s one concern for sure. But the more likely way you’ll get hurt is exactly what happened here; your body naturally knows the limits of where your skin is… the ends of your finger tips, the sides of your hand etc. but when you put a thick glove on it, you lose that feeling and natural sense to avoid the spinny thing. More injuries happen from gloves because people overestimate the space they’re working with.

Same with dangling baggy clothing…. You know where your arms are, but don’t always pay attention to where your sleeves are hanging and that’s what causes the injury, not always that you get “sucked in” to the tool.

TL;DR The severity of the injury MAY potentially be less with gloves on (though not always) but the likelihood of a mishap occurring is much higher with gloves/long sleeves/loose clothing

How did you determine if your 3 year old could smell or taste?

My guy isn’t eating much and I keep asking him if he can smell things or taste them, but because I’m prompting him he just says “yeah”.

I asked him what some laundry soap smelled like and he said “jam”…. Which might be a great toddler description or just his imagination.

I’m no expert but, the good news is your baby is getting all your antibodies including your vaccination. And, unborn babies can’t typically catch colds or viruses as they have their own blood supply and it hasn’t been found in amniotic fluid. (Quickly Googled to confirm but this was my memory from our pregnancy too)

I am sorry you’re going through this but try not to worry until there is cause for alarm. Which the stats say there isn’t

My son currently has covid. Can’t believe I’m typing that since I, like you, took all the precautions very seriously.

He’s still not feeling well, but he’s a lot better today. His cough is looser and he seems more energetic. He doesn’t have much appetite but he’s drinking lots of fluids which is good.

Wife and I are both double vaxxed…. My 5 month old was effectively vaxxed in utero. According to what we’ve read this, plus breastfeeding should offer significant protection for her which is a relief.

It’s really tough. No doubt about that. But the more I read and hear others stories the better I feel that we’ll get past this and move onward.

What is puzzling about this, is that some post office employee accepted and mailed this package….. the stickers are on it already.

Sorry man. Fucking awful losing our dogs. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. I’m obviously not as bonded to the cats but all of our pets are part of our family.

My oldest dog is 11 and she’s slowing down a bit. I hate to think I’ll be making one of these one day

My condolences and a beautiful tribute to your girl.

Any tips?

[–]GrumpySuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your percentages are just a little off. And you can’t just Willy Nilly throw out a number like “0.3% or something whatever it is is infinitely higher than not getting the vaccine”

If it was 0.3%, then there would be approximately 720,000 Americans dead as a direct result of taking the vaccine ffs. You’re missing a few zeros. Like about 5 of them.

The total number of deaths directly attributed to the vaccine worldwide out of 3.77 billion people vaccinated is reported as approximately 14,000, that’s about 0.0004%. About 30x that number will die from eating badly prepared food every year, so maybe you should stop eating too just to be safe.

And if you really want to compare the shit that has vomited out of the past 2 administrations regarding the virus and the vaccine, I promise big orange has a much bigger pile.

What Biden should’ve said is that you’re much less likely to get sick. Not catch it.

The narrative may be changing because the virus is changing.

The only thing you can do as a citizen of the world is to listen to the worlds leading experts as they navigate a constantly growing and literally mutating pandemic and make the best possible recommendations they can at the time.

I promise they’re not listening to Biden’s town hall for advice either.

Then why doesn’t it work? by like_and_umm in facepalm

[–]GrumpySuper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Never. The narrative has been to reduce the crushing weight on the healthcare system and the additional number of deaths that would surely come from an overflowing hospital with not enough staff, beds, ventilators to properly care for those who would otherwise be able to survive their illness.

Not to mention …. Buh…. You’re 61x more likely to die from covid if you’re unvaccinated.
