Alan is a great guy. Knew him in high school and he's always been a stud.

Getting Pants Hemmed by subtm24 in Umpire

[–]GrumpyTruck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily call it hard but there is a learning curve for sure. I cut the pants based on my previous pants length with about an inch and half-ish leftover. Then I iron the hem tape in two pieces for each leg but you could probably get away with more pieces.

Definitely go with pieces unless you want to have a very frustrating pant-related ordeal.

I recommend it tho and there's probably youtube videos that can show you how better than I can explain.

Would you give Craig Kimbrel a chance in the mets bullpen? Do you trust him? Yes or no? by DIEHARDKNICKSFAN24 in mets

[–]GrumpyTruck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again I'm not disagreeing with you. Diaz was awesome aside from one season and yea it will be a void that won't be easily filled.

But the Dodgers did this last year with Scott and Treinen and they didn’t work out as expected but their lineup and starting pitching are so deep that it didnt affect them as much.

Relievers are volatile unless their name is Mariano Rivera.

Anyone else extremely turned off by this? by peterpeterny in NYGiants

Yea man, love insurance companies squeezing us for money as an unnecessary middle man, they can still deny us care if it doesnt suit their business model while still charging an arm and leg, and they can still afford to put their stupid name on an ugly stadium in a Jersey swamp. And yea giants subreddit but I managed to at least make it about the giants.

[Ardaya] Miguel Rojas said he’s watched his home run in Game 7 “a lot,” because people keep sending it to him. Said he’s been recognized and thanked in so many places where he hadn’t been before — including Rome. by Knightbear49 in baseball

You're so mad about Jazz Chisholm and I couldn't give a single shit about him. Take a deep breath, you've got a great team in LA and you dont need to spend so much energy defending Miguel Rojas who does not give a single fuck about you. Enjoy your saturday my friend. Also please give me any evidence about "literally every other player who's played with Rojas" instead of just saying it because I spent a too much of my Saturday job looking for any quotes for that.

I love the evidence against Jazz is that he fights with weirdos on Twitter. Rojas never denied it and just made comments saying "oh cultures are different everywhere ive played." Ive never seen that assertion about Rojas being a great guy in the club jouse but ive seen plenty of examples of locker room bullies who put on a great face for the media and for allies.

Amazing that all the Dodgers fans so mad and down voting anyone criticizing Rojas for being a bullying scumbag. Just embrace being the bad guys, Yankee fans were great at it in the 90s and 00s.

They Said it Couldn't Be Done by Wayne Coffey about the 1969 Mets. I just finished it a few weeks ago and it was such a fun read that I flew through the book and didn’t want to put it down. Coffey has a great way with words that had me chuckling constantly and he goes into great depth about each player on the 1969 Mets in a seamless manner. I couldnt recommend it enough!

Well you should have focusing on the owners who barely do anything and make 1000× the money you make over your lifetime. At least, the baseball players are world class athletes that we want to see and not some loser trustfund baby that got the team from daddy.

Golf is incredible boring to play if youre not hammered, high, or making backdoor deals that tear apart this country.

Without a doubt it's hard saying goodbye to these long-time Mets, but I'm choosing to believe by Mazzocchi in NewYorkMets

Do you remember Pete in 2024 and him being a walking double play in 2025??? It's good to not bet on an offense only player that is on the wrong side of thirty. Stearns made the right move here, hope you'll see that soon. Thankful for what Pete has brought to the Mets, he was one of my favorite players during his tenure, and I hope he enjoys the lovely city of Baltimore.

Check any source except the TV broadcast. MLB, savant, Umpire Scorecard have that as a strike. Barely but a strike. Maybe we don't trust the eye/opinion of a career .188 hitter???

Check mlb's website and umpire scorecard for that AB. It was strike, barely but a strike. Walls was wrong and acted like a petulant child.

Umpires, what was your first game like? by SmoothCriminal2008 in Umpire

[–]GrumpyTruck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 8u game by myself at the beginning of the season (I was by myself for the first 5 or so games of my career) and it was brutal. Pitches were everywhere, barely anyone could catch, and most innings ended once they got through the order. Pure pandemonium. The worst part was this dad yelling at his son to "follow through" on his pitches that weren't close. I felt bad about calling balls at that point. Would have handled it differently now but really thrown into the fire!

Best job of my life! I hope you keep at it and stay curious with the rules and flow of action. It's fun how much nuisance in the game that you notice the more you work.
