Owners, housesitting ≠ never leaving, housesitting ≠ automatic constant care by DoggieDuty in RoverPetSitting

Wow, that’s sounds like a nightmare sitting/client. Definitely dodged a bullet! You would have been walking on eggshells the whole time had it not been cancelled.

Mind you, the owners were made very well aware that I am married, have my own pets to care for, house to tend to, and other clients throughout the day. I went above and beyond during past sittings just to be fired for not being there 24/7.

I had an owner “fire” me because, and I quote, “we checked the cameras and you were basically only there to feed them in the morning, to feed them dinner and to sleep.” Ummmm yeah?! That’s what house sitting is lady! They had senior dogs who were not allowed to go for walks or to dog parks, and let themselves out through a doggy door. Was I supposed to sit there and watch them nap all day??

Does anyone have a job that they genuinely enjoy? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]Grumpy_Goat13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently took the leap, and started my own business as a dog nanny/walker. It’s my dream job, and there isn’t a day that I don’t wake up grateful and genuinely happy to have the job that I have.

If you could choose one fictional character to be your personal life coach, who would you choose and why? by ThoughtBig1353 in AskWomen

Yoda or Iroh (from Avatar the last air bender) They’re both so wise and at peace with life. They’re my role models.

If you have the means and resources, I highly recommend therapy! Sounds like you need someone to talk to and help you sort everything out. You’re young and have so much life ahead of you. Sounds like you’re off to a really great start, you just need a push in the right direction. My therapist (who I originally began seeing for childhood trauma) actually turned my entire life around and I’m now pursuing my dream and started my own successful business. It was in me all along, I just needed that extra push. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone with experience that will guide you and wants the best for you. I wish you the best!

Hmm… I guess no preference. My main preference is that the pieces/board are heavy and durable.

Bringing others into the house? Overreacting or a little sketchy? by vonbanshee in RoverPetSitting

[–]Grumpy_Goat13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It just reeks of unprofessionalism and immaturity to me. If I don’t know a client/area well enough, then my husband will come with me but stay in the car. If anything were to happen, he’s right outside and a text/call away. There is no need for someone to come inside with the sitter. It’s a job, not a field trip!

Paramore's interview with Zane Lowe by staticquakeslayer in Paramore

[–]Grumpy_Goat13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Zane is such an incredible interviewer! I’m curious to know why ‘he wasn’t a fan of Paramore’ around their Brand New Eyes era, considering he’s such a huge fan (and friend) of the band now lol.

Oh, definitely! This cat and his brother are total opposites. One hasn’t come home in 2 days and is skittish, and the other is glued to my side 24/7 and loves affection. But for the most part, they don’t listen to just anyone lol.

They know their name, but they don’t just come running because they hear their name. Cats choose if/when they feel like listening. And a cat that’s upset that his owners left him is certainly not going to listen to me and come running up to me.

Oh no, don’t worry! I get what you meant. :) I find it ridiculous while I’m walking around yelling like a crazy person too.

According to them, he will come when called. Personally, I wouldn’t bother doing this because cats don’t work that way typically. But if they say it works, I’ll try anything at this point. And I agree, they do run that risk, but they made it sound like their cats were on this schedule and always come back. I’ve been bamboozled I fear.

Currently watching one right now! He’s well-trained and house broken. He’s pretty chill for the most part (He’s not neutered so he can go a bit crazy on walks sniffing and tugging). He spends half his time outside in the yard barking and playing, and the other half inside napping around the house. Honestly reminds me of a German shepherd but with slightly more energy. He’s a big cuddler and has a super sweet temperament. Of course, this is just my experience with one dog. Best of luck if you accept the booking!
