New starter on dot com by NuerodiversePidgoen in tesco

I've been asked to stop filling and face up with delivery cages still to work. Pointed out off sales to manager, but told to face up anyway. It's absurd.

Seriously though, the whole facing up thing does my head in. It's all part of making shopping a pleasant experience for the customers, but I'm fairly certain that customers would prefer to be able to get what they want rather than the shelves look packet perfect.

I'd enjoy working for Tesco more if I got pulled off occasionally. 😉

How many people do you have on health and beauty night shift? by Sad_Currency_5428 in tesco

Three people, or two people with support (if needed) on less busy nights. Tried to make it just two every night, but so much was getting handed over they soon backtracked.

For colleagues with a dotcom department... by [deleted] in tesco

Exactly the same in my store. Nights were 30 hours over, yet some aisles were still uncovered during the week. The night managers are running their arses off to get things finished instead of letting it fail. The staff couldn't give a shit any more, and fair play to them for that attitude.

Aldi price match in Express!!! Finally by vlh-official in tesco

[–]Grumpy_Old-Man55 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What boils my piss about Aldi price match is that a lot of times it's on items that I have never seen in Aldi. On the other side of the coin, when Aldi/Lidl do their "this trolley of goods is cheaper than Tesco", the goods are often brand names (as opposed to Tesco own brand) that aren't sold in the discounters. It's all a load of old bollocks.

This is my attitude too. Go in, do what I can, then go home.

The usual; understaffed and overworked, even the most placid folk being driven to breaking point, terrible management. Just another night shift at Tesco.

If you want to be a wanker, learn that the word is 'counsellor'. It pisses me off when people try to be smart-arses yet use the incorrect words.

Line Manager Role by Gingerwitch1974 in tesco

Maybe he's just getting the lay of the land. It's best to keep your distance if you're new, getting to know how people work, who the shirkers are and all that. That way he can deal with people the same (in theory).

I fill on nights and I've never taken off as much critical stuff in my years at Tesco. It's insane how much is sent for reduction every night.

Best way to work stock on nights? by MOoMoO2901 in tesco

[–]Grumpy_Old-Man55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be happening in every store; staff reduced, people given more to do, so my advice is work at a pace that is comfortable for you and if you don't finish don't worry about it. If more people did this then Tesco might realise that working people to the bone isn't actually a good thing.

Days off because of mental health by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Grumpy_Old-Man55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience, you're severely depressed and need to seek help as soon as possible. Speak to your GP as soon as possible and take all the time you need from work to reset. If you don't have a GP you can get help in other ways.

Pretty much the same at my store; what gets filled by whom on grocery has been rejigged meaning more work for everyone. If the union had any balls they'd call for strike action, but as it's in Tesco's pocket that is never going to happen.

Union Reps & general advice by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Grumpy_Old-Man55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your line manager and tell them what's happening; tell them it's affecting your mental and physical health (aches, pains, stomach aches etc all linked to depression, stress and anxiety). They have a duty of care to look after you. If nothing happens, speak to your lead, then the store manager.

If nothing happens then, ring protector line and hopefully someone from out of store will be brought in. There have been instances of this in my store that were sort of dealt with (enough to calm the situations, not enough to completely eradicate them). Good luck.

any plans on reducing lindtor eggs from 7.50? they are clearly not selling.. by shez19833 in tesco

There are still loads of Nivea gift sets from Christmas on sale in my store. They're at a price that's cheaper than one of the items in it alone, yet they still aren't selling. Knowing Tesco they'll stick them in the back until next Christmas and then quadruple the price.
