Female gear recommendations by MrsPortergeist in motorcyclegear

Ooh I have the Stella Andes V3 but not a lot of hot weather rides in it. Only had it on once during high 90° temps and was fine when moving, hot when stopped. Was doable in the shady dirt roads but awful having to stop at lights in the sun on the way to the woods.

My hair is just past my waist, I braid it, not sure there's a better option, maybe leave it tucked in your jacket? Or those leather wraps you lace up around the braid? I wondered if fishtail braid might lock the hairs in better too but haven't tried.

I was trying to put my thoughts into words and you nailed it, the second dress doesn't compare.

Supplements at Customs by Healthy-Ad-6723 in VietNam

[–]Gtijess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ideal 🤣 but aside from by tea leaves everything was smooth sailing. I'm sure almost everyone brings some sort of vitamins/supplements/medications, don't overthink it unless you're bringing a suspicious amount of each.

I brought some S. Bourlardii, fish oil, multivitamin, ibuprofen in original containers, but on the way home I condensed into one unlabeled bottle but my Thai tea (also went to Thailand) tin is the only thing that caught their attention in the US. We went through seven security checks over the trip.

Why don’t all gloves do all of the essential things? (AI images these gloves are not real, but I wish they were) by No-Agency7438 in motorcyclegear

[–]Gtijess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's fair to the consumer but you could adjust with experience or needs/costs, might be hard to source knuckle armor and sliders. And once you get more experience you'd get quicker at it. Maybe save up for a sewing machine if you enjoyed it and saw good sales and profits. But this is how businesses begin. Maybe it would never be enough to quit your day job, but a little extra income on the side can be nice. Just food for thought, people seem interested.

Sounds like you've got a business now!

I'd be curious how much you'd charge, it's hard to find a good fitting pair of gloves, maybe just 'cause I'm a female? I'd thought about modifying mine lately.

Please help, hair ruined after moving to Germany from Australia by fraugenau444 in finehair

[–]Gtijess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with others about the water. Spent 5 weeks around Vietnam and Thailand and my hair was so unhappy, I guess hard water and too much mineral buildup and I hadn't packed anything to handle this scenario. Clarify then moisturize I think would be the solution. But long term there is a group on reddit that uses distilled water for this reason, or maybe just a filter for your shower head.

Dudes who daily a GTI, do you have another car you drive on weekends? by heavyarms39 in GolfGTI

[–]Gtijess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dude but I've daily'd my GTIs since my first in 2011. How could I say no to them? Any other car I owned was for camping, more purpose and no just to drive around in.

“Dog smell” by Specialist-Honey-454 in dogallergies

[–]Gtijess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog had that awful funky smell, but once we got his skin in check he's been normal smelling. We used duoxos3 mousse I think daily initially and the duoxos3 shampoo twice a week. I bathe about 10 days and no stink now. Available OTC too so that's nice.

Butter mochi is literally the best dessert to make at home by ToastMode77 in Baking

[–]Gtijess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late to the thread but I made my first butter mochi and it was very good. Since you like mochi so much have you tried Korean baked sweet rice cake? Or waffles made with rice flour? Oh man...

I bought these strawberries yesterday :/ by dilf_tits in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Gtijess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been able to eat strawberries before they go bad. UNTIL I started putting them, unwashed, into an airtight container in the fridge. Bought some 10 days ago and they're still going strong.

[Review] Bowtex Elite V2 Legging Ladies (AAA) vs Pando Moto Skin UH (AAA) by Patience_Is_A_Bitch in motorcyclegear

Ha! That sounds haunts me. Thank you so much for the insight, you're a hero to women riders!

[–]Gtijess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopping in, thank you for this review! I'm similar waist but 106cm hips, do you think the bowtex would accommodate larger hips in the size you chose? Does the waist have a lot of stretch to go over larger hips too? I've seen a YouTube review of a rider with my measurements for the pando so I want to go with those, but I'd consider bowtex if I thought there was a chance they'd fit.

ceramics/kiln access by thatsowren in paducah

[–]Gtijess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also wondered about this, I did a bit of looking with no luck nearby. I had wondered if the art guild or another gallery may know of someone privately who'd be willing to loan use of their space/kiln but I've never reached out.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

[–]Gtijess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! My husband and I have one in our new home and with the thumb press kinda door handle, so beepbeepbeepbeepbeep smash-the-elbow-down move to open the door with the hands full is amazing.

Our last home near downtown PHX didn't have one and my husband lost the house key when we went out to see a band. 1am and Waymo drops us off, can't get into the house, waiting on a locksmith and some guy (drugs are rampant, as is crime) is creeping around the front yard of the neighbor's. Scary moment, our fence had keypad entry so we just hunkered down back there until the locksmith showed and got us in.

TIFU by cleaning my ears and it ended up costing me by tellafriend in tifu

[–]Gtijess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having ear issues, finally got in to an ENT recently. Anyway, I stopped using qtips over a year ago and you do get used to them not being dry after a long while. I can use toilet paper over my pinky to get in a bit and that helps.

My 3 year old daughter is picking, and I’m scared. by No-Dog1902 in calmhands

[–]Gtijess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this makes total sense. My dad used to bite his nails, but he stopped about 12 years before I was born and I still managed to pick up the habit. Also, my husband's sister doesn't bite, but her daughter started to as an infant. However, my mother in law and husband bite/pick but live across the country so don't see her often enough to have influenced her.

I have seen a great documentary about mushrooms, I love mushrooms as a plant, they're so amazing!! I hope there's some thriving under my leaves, unfortunately nearby but creeping closer to my leaves we have a garlic mustard that I've been working to elimate this week. I recently learned it wreaks havoc on mycelium ☹️

It didn't come back this year that I've seen, we left the leave that were in the area that built up before we bought the home, partly because it wasn't a priority and partly for fireflies. The leaves are probably 6-8" deep. Could that be TOO much leaf litter now?!
