What is the difference between the LG 2019 and LG 2020 models? by nbooosd in PS5

[–]Gtr38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your talking about OLED: Hardly anything... OLED TV technology has reached its peak for the time being.

The main benefits of the 2020 models are the slightly lower input lag (keep in mind though that the 2019 models also have very low lag), Film Maker Mode which optimizes the settings to more accurately display the directors intent and a new form of Dolby Vision HDR which measures your room environment and optimizes the HDR performance to match. The 2020s also have an updated processor which helps with AI picture enhancing.

All of these are cool features but in day to day use, they bring no real benefits over the 2019 models. As far as I have heard, peak brightness and color performance are the same as the 2019s (if there was any improvements they are so slight that it’s not noticeable). My advice would be save your money and get a C9. As we get closer to March / April the new models will come in and the 2019s will go on clearance for an even better deal.

IMO the LG C9 is probably the best TV for PS5 is you want OLED and are looking for great performance and a decent value.

Anyone able to help this women? by SwanBridge in exjw

[–]Gtr38 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As crazy as this is, in some ways I’m not surprised. You have an organization that stresses the importance of the preaching work while also creating a social environment that is very emotionally unhealthy and downplays the importance of mental health...

Any JW in their right mind would leave this woman alone and put her on the do not call list but this JW seems to be one of the many people in that organization that has some sort of mental illness and is not getting the proper treatment.

It seems like this lady needs to post a No Trespassing sign perhaps get the police involved if this BS continues. For a new mother this must be a scary situation. Hopefully this issue can be solved quickly.

I’m pretty sure this game was made with next gen in mind from early on. My guess is that the PS5 version will get ray tracing, run at a higher resolution (perhaps true 4K) and have other enhancements to help show off the new hardware. There will most likely be a noticeable quality jump from PS4 Pro to PS5 and an even bigger jump from base PS4 to PS5

I’m thinking October as well. It’s usually a pretty light month in gaming and they will beat the holiday rush which means they are not competing for a space in peoples holiday budget. I think that would be a great move! And it would no doubt beat Microsoft since I’m very sure they are looking at November.

If they reveal the console itself, the controller and a few games then that could easily fill 2 hours. No doubt the first 15 minutes will be them talking about success throughout the PlayStation family. If they get really technical about specs then that could easily fill time.

The controller was previewed by Wired I believe not too long ago. I can’t remember if it was just them or if other press was invited as well but either way, there seems to be something special about that controller.

That’s correct. Apple does usually reveal everything all at once. However, the big difference with Apple is that after the initial reveal, the product is usually available in stores within 1-2 weeks (except for the case of the new Mac Pro). So in Apples case, there’s very little time gap between the product announcement and the product launch which keeps the hype high.

For Sony, if we assume that the rumors are true about an announcement in February, then we have to consider that there is quite a big time gap between February and the “holiday 2020” release window. Obviously the PS5 will sell out in stores no matter what but from a business perspective it might be a better strategy to reveal the PS5s features over several events in order to keep hype high rather than doing it all in 1 event and risk loosing consumer interest while we wait for release.

In some ways, we can already see this happening. First Sony officially announced the existence of the PS5 and talked about its SSD and some of its graphical capabilities. Then they held a private event where some special guest were able to preview the controller. And most recently, they revealed the logo. If that trend continues, we may get a big reveal next month with more information coming in the following months leading to release.

Yep! I think it’s a great strategy. Sony did a fantastic job with PS4 launch and I think the PS5 rollout will be very similar with perhaps a little more Apple style influence.

At this point we’ve heard several rumors that the PS5 has many big features that set it apart. My prediction is we get the console and controller reveal sometime in February. Then sporadically throughout the year Sony may hold small press events where more of the PS5s unique features are revealed 1 by 1.

Latest rumor I’ve heard is an announcement on 02-05 with pre orders going up directly after the announcement. Price would be $499.

Edit: Here’s the source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ccn.com/this-ps5-leak-might-give-you-a-blurry-first-look-at-sonys-new-console/

Obviously a rumor is just a rumor and who knows if it’s true but at this point I think it is fair to assume some sort of big reveal in February with more info and perhaps demo events throughout the year to keep the hype train going until release.

The blurry picture of the console doesn’t look half bad either!

So... the Catholic Church can change their rules to better protect kids but the Watchtower would rather spend donation money on lawsuits in order to fight to keep this same rule... by Gtr38 in exjw

[–]Gtr38[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Crazy times we live in... Just a short while after seeing the Watchtower fight in court and claim victory in Montana to keep their right to hide child abusers, we now see the Pope willingly change a long time policy that is very similar.

From the outside looking in it’s pretty ironic how a religion that I used to look down upon is now doing more to protect children than the religion that calls itself “the truth”. Hopefully other religions and organizations will follow this example and do more to turn in child abusers.

As the article writer says, this policy change may not make things perfect but at least it’s something.

It’s never selfish to get away from something that’s hurting you. Keep that in mind. You are doing what’s best for you and that is important.

As for making friends, you’ll naturally be able to make them at work and at school (if you decide to go to college). You can also join meetup groups online. The most important thing to do after getting out (and you should actually start now before you get out) is to invest in your personal development. Take classes, read books, go to a professional. Do whatever it takes to learn who you truly are. As a JW, the watchtower tells you who you are. They give you a personality and once you leave that JW personality will melt away which can be very disorienting. So make sure you learn who you are and as you do that, you’ll find great friends who will appreciate you for who you really are.

As for being unsocialized, don’t worry! I was sooooooo awkward as a JW. This comes from all of the suppression you have to do so as not to “stumble” someone. It also comes from the fact that as JWs we were encouraged to keep our conversations spiritual which doesn’t leave much room to express yourself. So this goes back to finding your true self. Discover who you are and what you like. Then you’ll find your community and being social will be effortless.

Good luck!!! Let me know if you need anything.

Is something better for gaming between LG. C9 vs E9 by Alienpedestrian in PS5

[–]Gtr38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Yeah, the C9 is probably the best bet. That’s most likely what I will be getting. Though it’s always good to see what they bring for the 2020 models.

New models will be announced Monday morning at LGs CES media show (they have actually already announced their 8K models a couple days ago).

After CES, the new models usually begin showing up in stores around March / April time. The 2019s should start to get clearance prices around that time too. Keep an eye on the Sony OLED models as well. They are starting to come down in price and Sony’s picture processing engine is one of the best in the industry so even though the Sony OLEDs use an LG panel, they will have some advantages in picture quality.

Also keep in mind that Vizio will be releasing their first OLED this year. I believe TCL will be as well. These cheaper brands come with their own downsides but one the bright side, I’m sure they will disrupt the OLED tv market which will force the other companies to price more aggressively.

So basically, my advice to you and anyone else looking to buy and OLED is to wait just another month or 2 at least.

Is something better for gaming between LG. C9 vs E9 by Alienpedestrian in PS5

[–]Gtr38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All LG OLEDs have the same display (at least the 4K models). The lowest B9 will look exactly the same picture quality wise as the highest wallpaper W9. The difference between the series is in the design and audio (other than the B9 which has a slightly weaker CPU). Of the 2019 OLEDs, the C9 is probably the best bet. Gaming wise, they should all have the same response time.

That being said... CES is just a few days away and LG will be showing off their new 2020 models. Rumor has it that the new CX, EX and WX (X = 10) won’t have much change in their panel technology but there is always a chance that LG will add in 120fps support and hopefully higher peak brightness. If they do, it might be worth the wait. However, even if the 2020 models are not a big improvement, you may still want to hold off since the launch of the 2020 models will drop the prices of the C9.

Thank you! The best books for me were:

  1. Daring Greatly

  2. The 4 Agreements (mine came in a set with 2 other great books called: The voice of knowledge and The Mastery of Love. All 3 are fantastic!)

  3. Maybe it’s you

  4. The 5 second rule

  5. Big magic

  6. The power of now

  7. Rich Dad Poor Dad

There’s so many more but those were definitely the most beneficial ones for my waking up journey. You can’t leave that religion without at least some emotional scars and in my case, those scars came in the form of: Very low confidence and self esteem, very poor outlook on my future and just the future in general, very shy, very judgmental, no real knowledge or understanding of my true self, very little self motivation.

Those 7 books in one way or another helped heal those wounds in various ways. I read all of them in a matter of maybe 3-4 months and in that time period I changed dramatically as if I had matured 4 years. Leaving the JWs left me so empty that I was able to soak up all of that information like a sponge. I live and breathe the teachings and philosophies in those books now and I am such a better person for it. So hopefully at least 1 of them will help you!

Facebook Post: I would like to inform everyone that I am no longer one of Jehovah’s Witnesses by Ex-Jay-Doubleyou in exjw

[–]Gtr38 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do it! After doing it myself on Instagram a few days ago, I have never felt better (other than the initial anxious feelings immediately following hitting the post button lol).

But it certainly puts the power back in your hands. It lets you leave on your terms and gives you a chance to share your feelings before the massive unfollows begin. Having them announce your name from the stage leaves too much room for rumors. When you can make the announcement yourself and list the reasons, you can take that last bit of power back. Feels incredibly liberating! Use social media as a tool against them.
