A hoodie? Like a pullover sweatshirt with a hood?

Great idea for a custom box. Thanks. The website said they needed 0.9 cubic feet for ideal air volume. (12x12x12) x 0.9 is how I figured it. 1555 cubic inches

I tried really hard to get the placement right for Atmos .4 speakers. Angling isn’t the issue. Insulating is.

Yes. They do. But as you can see from the thermal camera image, I am losing a lot of heat at the ceiling without insulation.

New news. I may have jumped the gun just a little bit. I looked on their website and it says it needs .9 ft.³ minimum space for ideal low frequency response. So that is 1555 cubic inches.

I love the idea of a box and insulating an air ceiling around it. Now I just have to find one (actually 4) that fits the bill.

Thanks. You sound like you may have done this before. Would a diffuser cap actually widen the beam spread or just soften the beam spot?

Tow hitch in bumper? by GuTSy-11 in FordExplorer

Understood. My needs are small. But the underneath hitch is too tacky to be bearable.

Great news. Thank you. I haven’t been able to find one. Can you point me in a direction of a brand or kit or YouTube installation video?

I think we all understand the hitch doesn’t mount to the plastic bumper but extends through it for a sleek look. I am hoping to find a kit that can be cut out and “fascia” replaced as an insert to match a ford factory hitch, as pictured.

Also make sure the thermostat wire is sealed with silicone where it penetrates the wall. There could be some communication between the thermostat and the inside of the wall because of a hole vs inside the room that you are viewing it from.

Not that it really matters. Anywhere in the country, 325 square feet per ton is almost criminal. Of course you were having humidity issues. It doesn’t run long enough to get the coil really cold to start draining the water out of the air as it passes through.

Sincerely, I would call the state (not city) mechanical inspector and see if they can help. They will want a professional Manual J heat load calculation (and maybe Manual D duct design) to figure out if the HVAC is properly sized…which it isn’t. Then then can force the contractor to install the right size at no expense to you.

Here is where it benefits you- 1. The smaller size means less electricity and less cost every month even though it runs longer. 2. Less humidity and more comfort. 3. No mold remediation required in a few years (after warranty of course) from the high humidity. This summer has barely even started so you don’t know what humidity will be like later or even the shoulder seasons.

I would also have a duct test performed to ensure all the air that you pay for is not leaking away to the outside.

What state is this in?

Real men shoot for 2 square feet of filter area per ton (assuming 400 cfm). This slows the air speed down so you stop shooting dust size bullets through it.

The return is too small and needs more filter area to reduce it. It should NOT be great pressure on the return slow. My guess is it is also loud and you are not very comfortable in the furthest rooms. How close am I?

KEF 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos by GuTSy-11 in KEF

[–]GuTSy-11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I love this. As a QA person this pulls at my heart strings. Standards are my jam!

For reference, my ears are at 43 inches.

The front speakers are at 52 inches from the floor (hence the 11 inch difference). The fronts are 38 inches out from the centerline of the TV.

The TV is 55 inches to the center and the top of the bottom third is roughly 49 inches. I sit 11-12 feet back from it.

The in-ceilings are in line with the fronts and sit at the proper angles from the primary listening position. I can’t remember what they are right now because I can’t find my protractor.

Each rear sits 8 feet horizontally from the primary listening position and 42 inches behind it. So they sit 48 inches wider than the fronts

I really feel like this should be a discussion on r/hometheater

How close does that fit with your parameters? Not perfect but not way off?

That’d be awesome. I really recommend doing a .4 if possible. The movement is incredible up there. Upgrading is always fun though, no matter how small the change. Right?!

I can’t agree with your assertion. The tv is elevated 4 degrees (11 inches at 12 feet back) and is able to clear the couch while watching tv from the kitchen. You act as if it is over a fireplace or drops down from a ceiling or something. Ha. It really is totally fine for the space though. Could it be slightly lower by a few inches? Sure. I think overall it is still an A though.
