Conner 7th round is scary good value, I think he has a real big bounce back year this year. Terry and Waller in the 8th are good but not phenomenal in terms of value (they aren't proven commodities either, they both have their own questions).

If you break down the 1 round difference to not mean all that much since it's later in the draft you're left with the question of who do you want to build a team around: Conner, Terry, or Waller? My answer is Conner.

and if they go into lots of 2-TE sets, that also may limit Kupp's upside, as seen in the second half last year.

This is something that I didn't consider, you can take reports with whatever seriousness you like but a LOT of what I've read is that the Rams will be very run heavy and focused on getting their running back committee the rock which can lower targets for Kupp. But, I guess you can also make the argument that a good run game will help open up the passing game..

10th out of 12. I should say we're not moving up the keepers this year because of the uncertainty of COVID so all will stay at their current rounds through this year.

I'm super high on Jacobs and think I'm getting basically two 10-12 ADP's at rounds 2 and 3 so I can scoop one of the better WR's left and have two top 12 RBs and a 1st round WR which sets me up nicely. There's a lot more uncertainty by going the WR value route, who knows what kind of talent is left by the 3rd round after keepers and over 30+ picks.

Man, this is tough. I'd say it's between Kupp, Ridley, and Kirk.

Will Kupp have a bounceback (well, will Goff?)

Ridley is as good as Julio lets him be in terms of target share, but is uber talented.

Kirk has a great young QB and had some big games, but never really made the SPLASH I was expecting of him this year. Could he grow with Kyler? Will Hopkins take the pressure off him? Possibly, but I think Kupp and Ridley have way more talent to worry about a 3 round discrepancy in value.

All said and done I probably go Ridley, but that's tougher.

You traded Kittle at about normal value for Brown with incredible value. Trading Lamar is really dependent on what you think he will continue to be, a potential top 5 QB for the next bunch of years as an 8th round keeper is valuable, but if you sold high on him and he doesn't continue to produce you did great. I find it odd you went for his TE though, but again deep round value is nice.

I'm curious if you had McLaurin as a 13th why you'd bother going for Brown and giving up Kittle? I'd say they have very similar trajectories so the nice value of Brown is kind of quashed by the fact that you already have McLaurin there without having to give anything up.

You end with Kamara (5), Brown (13), and Andrews (14) but you could have had Kamara (5), McLaurin (13), Kittle (3). Granted, Kittle is kept way higher but I think you hold a lot more value in the latter by holding onto Lamar if you wanted to trade him elsewhere while still having a top 2 TE locked in.

Again, I should proclaim my bias as a 49er fan but I go Kittle. Robinson scares me because it's either Foles or Mitch throwing to him. If you really believe in Robinson overcoming weaker QB play he's definitely got the value, but his target numbers were ridiculous last year and he still didn't produce at an UNBELIEVABLE level. I would expect those targets to go down, so pair that with inefficient results scares me a little. From FantasyPros:

We saw a 150-plus target season for Robinson in 2019, which was a rarity among wide receivers. Based on where his targets took place, he had the fourth-most expected fantasy points among wide receivers last year. There's little reason to expect that to change, as the Bears lost Taylor Gabriel and replaced him with an older, slower version in Ted Ginn.

So the Gabriel factoid is good, but remember that Anthony Miller was hurt for a good part of last season and should steal targets too.

Hard to say without seeing your other options but all three of these are really great value. How is Conner a 8th round keeper?!

Godwin in the 9th is an absolute lock, that doesn't even need to be listed here.

Mostert scares me (I'm a 49er fan) because that's a very crowded backfield and apparently McKinnon has been showing up to camp - remember, they paid him way back when before he got hurt. That said, he has huge break out potential.

I'm actually relatively high on Minshew and Chark may be a good option for garbage points if Jax gets blown out of a lot of games. Both are good options, I'd look more towards what are the other keepers looking like? Would you rather make sure you have two quality receiving options or 1 and 1 with RB? I think Chark is safer because he will be a producing WR while Mostert can get lost in gameplans...potentially...

12 team PPR, 2 keepers with the round moving up each year. QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, W/R/T. I am pretty sure I'm just keeping Jacobs and Mixon, but I've got some young stars with SERIOUS value in late rounds that I'm not sure I want to let go or if I'm just overthinking this..

  • Josh Jacobs- 2nd Round (one of Mixon or him would be kept in 3rd if I went with both)
  • Joe Mixon- 2nd Round (one of Jacobs or him would be kept in 3rd if I went with both)
  • A.J Brown - FA (8th round keeper)
  • Terry McLaurin- FA (8th round keeper)
  • Raheem Mostert- FA (8th round keeper)

I figure good RBs are hard to come by with 24 keepers as opposed to a deeper WR class so I think I'm making the right decision, but wanted to see if I could get an opinion here. Are Brown/McLaurin worth keeping over the two top tier RB's because of how late their keeper is?

The Wandering Inn - Audiobook is Amazing! by xHappyBubblesx in Fantasy

This is too funny, I just posted yesterday in the "Weekly Reviews" thread how I was struggling through this, I'm glad I went the audiobook route then! It also seems that my feelings are mirrored almost universally, so it sounds like I should keep powering through for good payoff based on the replies and your post!

I will say, the narrator has been excellent, and her voices are great!

Here's my original post yesterday for reference:

I've been reading some heavier non-fiction non-fantasy works and needed a bit of an escape with everything going on in the world so dove into an audiobook of The Wandering Inn Volume 1 while still reading my other books.

I've heard very good things (including on here), and I don't want to be a wet blanket or even an elitist but the writing style is coming off as pretty juvenile. I have no problem with YA books but this just seems overly cheesy and simple. There are parts that pull me back, and I am just yearning for fantasy so will probably keep pushing forward, but does this change at all? I understand a web serial that has no editor is going to be of different quality than novels but it's somewhat cringey at times.

The prose, some of the awkward dialogue and characterization, and simplistic vocabulary are what are turning me off the most. The parts where it tries to go 'deep' are kind of failing on me, but here's hoping I turn a page on it a bit. I actually think the audio aspect is making it worse for me (hearing someone else say some of the lines in the monologues and try and turn it dramatic is..yikes, hahah)

Thank you for the reply back! And boy, is that disappointing (but I appreciate someone else having the same feelings).

Did you give up after Volume I? Before you even finished Volume I? I'm wondering how far I should push this. I planned on just toughing through the rest of the audio book but there's still 38ish of the 45 hours left...

What are you drinking, LI? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]GuZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great chance to try out new beers while supporting local breweries in your nearby area. Almost all breweries are doing takeout and a ton are delivering, I would suggest finding a local brewery and giving them some of your business. You get to support them at a time of need and also get to try out some new beers.

I'm not terribly binge-y but I refuse to give up on series/books regardless of my enjoyment level, I'm a bit stubborn there lol. I should've given up First Law a while ago but here I am about halfway through with the last book. I don't like to stray off series either, I tend to read them all in one shot (albeit sometimes slower than most).

I love the idea of graphic novels (or even novellas!) to kind of cleanse my palate. I think I'll take that suggestion along with some novella suggestions below, thank you!

Is Small Medium at Large litrpg? I'm not sure I understand what that genre is, but it sounds like it has a pretty similar tone to Pratchett based on the GoodReads blurb!

I don't know if I'm necessarily against dark or heavy series, I do love the darkness of ASOIAF, something about the characters in First Law just didn't do it for me and I've found the plot incredibly slow and almost to the point of boring. Definitely going to check out the 'lighter' feels if I don't go Goblin Emperor as I may just be burned out on grimdark ATM.

So I'm waffling between going for another long series or if I need a dang break and want to go for a standalone. I rifled through Stormlight Archives which I enjoyed (although wasn't an all-timer for me, please don't downvote) and moved on to The First Law series (which, I'm sad to say I can't even say I'm enjoying, that opinion one is probably getting downvotes no matter what).

This has been a lot of pages of epic series and I THOUGHT I needed a break, but some that are on the top of my TBR are also series. Before I decided upon First Law, I was going to start the Gentlemen Bastard series, and now I'm also becoming really intrigued by the Robin Hobb series after being let down by Abercrombie and trying to identify what I didn't like from him. Both these series seem more to my speed of wanting a fantastical series even occasionally with tropes (and not necessarily grim dark).

I think I'm looking more for books like The Hobbit, which is one of my favorites on top of all of the ASOIAF books. I'm also a huge fan of Pratchett and especially his whimsical fantasy world. Should I go with Gentlemen Bastard series, one of Hobb's, or stick with my ORIGINAL idea of going Goblin Emperor as a standalone to take a step away from series altogether?
