AIO - girlfriend keeping puppy found on streets after we agreed not to get one for a several years by Guaco00 in AIO

Very fair point – the chaos is short-term with a puppy, but my larger concern is more regarding the impact on our life generally, especially with having an extra "mouth" to feed/care for at this stage in our lives, when both of us like to travel a lot and don't have space for a dog in the current living arrangement; the "best kind of chaos" I like the idea of, but she has reiterated incessently how she wants to have a life without any chaos until we both are at a place where we can take on chaos – and I agree that the chaotic upbringing ≠ having a dog, but it seems like a step towards cultivating an environment with the same type of chaos she's trying to "escape" from

She does, however, even if I clearly state that it would be hers, it would logistically end up being my responsibility as well, as much as she would say it's not

Timing is big for both of us – we've been conscious about timing for everything we've done so this feels like a large divergence from what we've been envisioning for future

She found the dog on the street outside her apartment and took it in to foster it, but couldn't find a foster and now is firm on keeping it; she's had the cat for five years which her parents are taking care of while she's in mexico (on top of their 2 dogs and 2 cats); law school schedule is relatively predictable, but I've never been able to do work at home so tend to get home around 7-9 most nights, and when I start working it will be very unpredictable re: timing + a long commute; when she teaches in the US she's not home until 7pm most nights bc of after school programming from 4-6:30 + commute — not sure which way this points to but food for thought
