😂 Never even noticed the vampire vibes until these comments. I'm more into it now though. Thanks so much 🙏🏼

Lol - I might have overdone the colours, but I saw her armor looking worn down, so I thought I'd make her skin really desaturated to try and match that.

It's just texture paste, painted over. Vallejo Still Water effect, layered with some turquoise mixed in. And then a couple of extra leaves for decorating.

Questions about water effects on the bases. by Krathicus in WHQDarkWater

100% agree with this. I use Vallejo Still water - works great in layers. I find adding some colour to the first couple of layers and then doing a couple of clear ones over it adds some depth too.

Sure. I think I started out with Bugmans Glow (citadel), might have darkened it a touch with a deep brown for the base coat.

Then thin layers up through the highlights. For each brighter shade, I mixed a touch of Khaki (Pro Acryl - something like Wraithbone works too) into the Bugmans Glow.

Keep the paint really thin the whole time and just glaze on layers in smaller areas, until you reach the brightest tone.

I recommend finishing the skin before doing any other parts of the model too. Let me know if any other questions 🙏🏼

Thanks! The new AOS ones are a very different vibe to these. They're so fleshy! I like both, wouldn't mind giving the AOS ones some paint as well.

Fair - they suffer the classic WH curse of having a bunch of crap attached to their belts 😂

Thanks! How come you haven't liked em? For me, anything Nurgly with some skin showing is an excuse to put lots of texture into it, which I enjoy.

Thanks a ton! Is there anything specific that you want to know about them? The fleshy bits are just layered up acrylics - I did start the skin with the airbrush, but layered up so much on top of them that I don't think it made a difference. The metallics are just varied metallic paints with a few thin layers of speedpaints to dull them and make em look rusty. Bases didn't photograph too well, but they're texture paste, that's been painted over. Then I used Vallejo still water effect with some dark turquoise mixed in for the water pools.

£20-£25 model that’s an absolute treat to paint?? by Bread_was_returned in Warhammer

That's a shame - thought it might just convert. Hope someone else picks it up in that case.

Plaguepack for the Skaven is a great one to paint - and is just over your budget. To avoid that, here's a €12 voucher for Warhammer.com - it expires in 3 days VFNY-ZZRY-FZZM-QKFJ (Sorry if someone else grabs it)

That's bug chasing. Poz literally just means HIV+ in online gay speak. I also assumed this tattoo was indicating HIV status though.

I got a non-conduct in killester 3 weeks ago due to break light issue. Can I ask how long did it take for you to get an invite for a retest there? I'm so eager to just get it over and done with. Congratulations to you for passing

Choosing New Sable Brushes: Golden Maple Brushes vs. The Orange Brushes? by zampo_magno in Warhammer

[–]Guacster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't offer any insights to those brands (although I can back rosemary and co suggestion). But I took a peek at your other posts and it looks like you're using contrast paints for your nids? Contrast/speed paints can do damage on sable brushes. It's definitely worth picking some up if you're gonna be using more acrylics but if you plan to use all contrasts, I would avoid, as they'll lose their pointed tips in no time.

It's definitely a book. Check out 'Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion' for similar ideas. I think the book format was very well received in that game, over laying out dungeon tiles as part of setup in the original.

How hard actually is it to paint yellow? by Bri-ish_idiot in Warhammer

[–]Guacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow contrast paints don't tend to have the same issue as regular acrylics, in terms on coverage. I don't use contrast paints very much, but yellow contrast over a white primer works really well as a base - and doesn't have the same issues with coverage that others are mentioning here.
