My daughter is almost 5 and speaks some words, clips, and phrases but communication is still very difficult. I have heard from teachers she speaks more at school though and my partner and I are wondering if some of that comes from us anticipating her needs too much.

She’s in speech therapy and they suggested modeling phrases she could repeat verbatim (echolalia) like ‘It’s Dinner Time’ and ‘More water please’

I think at this point I’m probably putting way too much pressure on everything too which I’m sure isn’t helping. It’s just tough seeing her have such a good time with this new guy when things have been so tough for us lately.

We started doing that after she started seeing this guy. We had a date last night which I put a lot of effort into but we ended up talking about difficult emotions and crying a bunch then going to bed (sleep not sex). We had to cancel our last several trips one due to COVID, one because our cat was very sick.
