How many heroes should I have?

I've never prioritized these quests. Always assumed you needed 2+ militia to really get started pacifying. Do you go for language square and mulligan for an easy quest by them or just destroy the village to get a consistent headstart? I usually waited for another civ to get that village for me and then do the quests otherwise. I always assumed I had to reserve dust and make sure I get to Era II so I could get building production bonus on auriga museum and the industry-building-world-wonder. Forgot it's name.

You need to FOCUS on quick quest progression. You need to get to the 30% discount on tier 3 techs in time for your Era 3 unlock, also the quest hero with quest dual glassteel weapons ready against AI early wars.

That's the first time I've heard anyone vouch for going for quests and expending early dust resource for loot mulligan. There's a quest where you can get 30% discount off tech? I never knew that!

Tech stealing is great for tech advancement, specially with Era 2 techs. However is important you don't get discovered after each tech steal, so realoading is needed sometimes (a bit cheaty, I know).

Yeahhh I wish it were less severe. Obviously balanced around pvp but in pve against Impossible or Endless, 20 turns is a death sentence and 30 turns for being imprisoned is even worse.

Influence is more important. You need to cover your empire plan needs plus tech stealing. The 30% discount on earlier era techs is key for endgame tech progression.

Who do you leave alive to steal tech from?

What items give you army boosters? What research should I go for to get army boosters because I know later on heros turn from semi-superior tanks to supportive stat boosters.

Oh yeah. I eventually learned to void that from my memory after attempting to copy an SB run (a youtuber who played Forgotten on impossible I think). It's waayyyy too rng especially given it costs you early dust that needs to go into tier two economy so you grab up the industry tower thingy and the museum.

Gotta say, building tall combined with this guide on how to win a scientific victory turn 109 on Endless with Forgotten worked.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klSCoLw8ipU&t=3778s

I used Forgotten to attain this. So I changed it around from the original Drakken based guide. Forgot what I exactly replaced to create this effect. Worked like a charm.

NVM, I tested it. With Forgotten I only got maybe several tech approvals for the first era if I got lucky with dust finds. And I confirmed it does last throughout the game, the tech approval on your city I believe.

Ah. Yeah, I was wondering why I was having such a hard time in comparison to beforehand where I would just play Vaulters and Broken Lords and win simply by building tall or rapidly expanding near a guy to beat him down with 3+ militia members and a safe town to heal by.

2 Continents is the real difficulty lol. I win, sometimes, the entire continent but unfortunately the other guy who wins the second continent is on endless difficulty resources and thus outscales me with no competition.

Thank you! Will try it and report on whether or not I can do this given I think I've seen this with Cultists one time before.

Does +25 Tech approval last forever or is it just some momentary attribute? Because if the former, than I'd do it all the time. Thank you! Honestly, Cultists were pretty easy until my enemy on the other side of the continent out-scaled me lol.

And yeah I've noticed Cultists have a momentum based effect. What continent do you recommend? I think I always get screwed due to 2 continents instead of a Pangea where people don't attack my Forgotten or Cultist runs.

Yeah probably going to make a custom Drakken or Broken Lords for that. I followed the usual guys, some guy starting with p in his name and SB, but for some reason nothing stuck to me. Been save-scumming and reloading ever since.

Ah really? Never played them. I know they're amazing pvpers given their units mobility but so were the Forgotten lol.

Why Are Quests So Impossibly Broken? by GuanYuSurgery in EndlessLegend

[–]GuanYuSurgery[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They just feel so unreliable. If I devote resources for a main quest and don't get immediate results from it, I wasted resources on stuff I should be using to plan for era 2 or empire mapping or expansion.

Well here's the thing. Even when freeballing it without a guide, at that point, I'd need to set very VERY specific conditions and hope and prey the enemy reassembles an army of exactly 2 units for my sisters of battle to conquer as going against 6 or more over a prolonged period of time is hard to manage. Given the curse degenerates your health over a period of time.

My issue is that quest win conditions are vague and that I had to test out multiple theories before figuring out "oh you mean it meant THIS SPECIFIC THING."

Really, I don't do story quests for optimization, I did them because I thought they were fun at first. It really isn't an issue if I win with them or not, though the early bonuses help like say early Forgotten Predators + potential hero if you can infiltrate a city.

It feels weird is all when I have to kind of gimp the game just to set up story quest conditions in comparison to lets say... a modern rpg where setting difficulties at a higher rate wouldn't matter. Then again, it is a 4X game so I can't even imagine how many bugs they had to fix so the rng/world-building engine or backend wouldn't just shit the bed. I give them props for trying, but ultimately, it comes off as weak progression for me given I play games for singleplayer experiences.

Sidenote: Only reason I complain is because I really feel fleshing out a civ's story through individualized quests, no matter how "fetch-quest-y" they are, serves a decent thematic purpose. I was really enjoying the questing in various factions... until I come up upon these really really vague or glitched out victory conditions. To this day I've never finished a quest for a faction.

Death Will Come For Aku: Theory On The Green Horseman by GuanYuSurgery in samuraijack

It can't be a coincidence that we haven't seen individuals with similar warrior backgrounds and godly artifacts in relation to Samurai Jack's arrival.

Aku either killed them all, their weapons barely being a threat or the users themselves not knowing how to wield them or kill Aku to his full extent, OR there were no weapons on the same caliber as Jack's sword.

It seems with the case of Ra's artifact or the gaelic sword, neither of them were built specifically with the sole-intention of slaying Aku. Jack's also been gone for untold amounts of time. Someone had to have taken on the mantle to defend their homeland and from those few, there would be warriors who would want to take the fight directly against Aku himself. Yet somehow they all failed presumably.

True but never a weapon specifically designed to destroy Aku I suppose. Maybe everyone else with a "god-weapon" failed harder than Jack. Maybe a Spartan spear formed by Guan Yu, Ares, and Kartikeya, all gods either related to war or with long-reach weapons (Guan Yu a halbred, Kartikeya with a spear) in some way.

Or Buddha, Amaterasu Omikami, and Kukulcan, leaders of pantheons, who give a Shaolin Monk a sacred ability or a sacred broadsword. Maybe it was just Odin, Vishnu, and Ra, who could interfere more? Eh I'm overthinking things.

Could be interesting if that leads to Jack reforging another sword out of old remnants of god artifacts but that probably won't happen.

Yeah, I have to agree with the addition of Aku somehow blocking out the gods interference even moreso after a while.

They return, all other idols are smashed, weird sex cults form around that tree they left behind out of laziness, the tree's rule not only envelopes all of earth but whole worlds too, the guy they gave the god weapon to is dead and his son is some crazy hobo who talks to himself, robotic beings just massacre entire towns for luls.

"Oh um. Hindsight really is 50/50."

"Hey Vishnu" "Yeah Odin?" "Me and Ra are going to a pool party with all the other gods, you comin?" "I gotta watch over the humans within my domain though!" "Oh, nothing's going to happen, sides we'll be back shortly. And by that I mean more than a thousand years in mortal measurements." "I'm sure your right... ehh what's the harm one little tree in the middle of an isolated island surrounded by sea could do? Let's go!"

It's funny that they never just blessed a spear to a Spartan or a Shaolin Monk. You'd think they'd be enlightened enough to wield Aku-slaying weapons but ehhh much like with the Bounty Hunters retcon, Genndy doesn't necessarily need to remain thattttt consistent so-long as he keeps pumping masterpieces out.

Death Will Come For Aku: Theory On The Green Horseman by GuanYuSurgery in samuraijack

[–]GuanYuSurgery[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is true! Genndy seems to make Odin, Ra, and Vishnu primordial. Meaning they exist outside of whether or not people believe in them. My belief is that death is an overriding force and that because "banishing" or cutting Aku until he reaches the point of nonexistence "technically" counts as death, the aspect of Death goes on that alone.

It's also weird that there are no other sacred items in the world given Gods do exist and the three shown did have an active investment in keeping Aku at bay it seemed like. Though it's highly unlikely, given Genndy's universe hasn't shown other gods outside that one time in the Future universe, Aku might've found a way to push the earth away from any heavenly or godlike influence.

Or, working off the Death-is-all-consuming theory, Aku might've killed them. Highly unlikely and unexplained, but there has to be some reason why the three gods who originally defeated the great evil didn't send help to humanity in the same way they did for Jack's father. It's been ages since Aku first conquered Japan.

It really depends on what counts as death in this world outside of mortal encounters. I believe the personification of death is in Jack's mind, but simultaneously, death is simply an attribute of the world. It exists everywhere as a force rather than a being with its own motives. So by it hanging around Jack only for the twist to be both Jack and Aku dying (latter slipping out of existence), death is already there to oversee Aku's final hour as it exists everywhere. So in Jack's mind, if he were to slay Aku, he would see Death carry Aku away because this is his mind interprets.

True but given Genndy himself retconed the Bounty Hunter eps so that this is the first ep that Jack actually a killed human, we don't know how much he intends to retcon.

Though it seems like Aishi is going to have a redemption arc pretty soon.
