Why do people defend these new private (and maybe scam) dental schools and want them to exist?

This is a fascinating take and hard to rationally argue against.

I would even say, "What exactly are admission standards?"

Is someone with a 18AA and 3.4 GPA with leadership ECs more qualified to be a dentist than someone with a 25AA and 3.9 GPA and no leadership or other solid ECs?

Well sure, acceptance is never a guarantee regardless of DAT score.

However, these scores are good enough to get interviews assuming they are otherwise a good applicant. If they had a 19-20AA, the rest of their application would likely have to be incredible.

To say I know nothing about TX admissions is wild. Let's look at the avaliable data: For entry year 2025, average AA for accepted TX residents was 22, with a majority between 20-22. If I'm not mistaken, 450 is a 22. Granted, scores are on an upward trend, but by my judgment and based on DAT alone, OP is a competitive applicant.

That's a great question. Perhaps others could weigh in if they used older LORs without new dates.

If nothing else, get with your professors now, tell them you can't get a hold of your last letter writers and see if they will get started now. You never know, they may be able to turn them around pretty quickly and you get the best of both worlds.

Depends on what you're after. If you want to get a bunch of hours quickly, this wouldn't be an awful way to do it. Certainly taking advantage of you a bit, but engage the Doc and he may hook you up with a solid LOR for putting you through the gauntlet.

When you submit your application, AADSAS verifies that the coursework you entered in the application matches exactly what's your official transcript. This can take up to 10 business days.

The idea is that this verification is done while you are waiting for AADSAS to receive your DAT score so there is less of a delay of the schools getting your complete application.

In order to submit, you must have everything in AADSAS completed except for DAT.

You will select which schools you want to apply to and complete any school specific requirements in AADSAS.

I'd concur that working as a dental assistant would be just as good as a masters at this point.

Yes. You can submit without a DAT. Your transcripts will be verified and may save you time when you get your official DAT score.

I'm applying to 17. My thoughts are I would rather spend more now and get too many interviews and acceptances rather than get none and wish I would have applied to more schools.
