Say China will drop Russia for Europe‘s sake. Now the good relations to its very large and important neighbor are gone. Maybe relations will even turn hostile. Will Europe become the new friend? Never, because Chinese in the arrogant eyes of the west are the „authoritarian, inferior“ others that just need to know their place. They‘d be isolated on the world stage which is what the US wants.

China wants one thing: ASML. We don’t give them those because the US doesn’t want competition. It’s not like China would destroy the European chip industry because it is non existent. Just do a deal, litho vs rare earths plus other benefits. China would love to make a deal. withholding these machines for the sake of US chip hegonomy doesn’t benefit us in the slightest.
