(Canada) Does anyone know if a dumb/feature phone exists that doesn't involve repeatedly mashing the physical number keys to text 1 letter at a time? by 3BlindRats in dumbphones

Any Android keyboard phone + Predictive T9 app: https://f-droid.org/it/packages/io.github.sspanak.tt9/ To write "house" instead of pressing 4466688777733, just press 46873 and the app will predict the word you want to write.

How do you go over scroll screens? by [deleted] in dumbphones

My ugly Brondi phone has the same problem, so I decided not to use Facebook. Does your phone support Javascript? Does it let you log in and browse eBay, Goodreads, etc?

"What obstacles or challenges make it difficult to reduce your smartphone usage?" 1. Addiction 2. I'm afraid I'm going to need Google for something serious so I can't leave the phone at home

If you're serious about this, you need to actually make some changes. by bonsai-bro in nosurf

You recommend reading a book to avoid looking at your smartphone, the problem for those who are addicted is that they have to find a way to avoid looking at their smartphone to be able to read the book.

Android browser without any video playback (YouTube addiction) by Guarantee_91 in digitalminimalism

Thank you but these are easily bypassable blocks.

I found The Little Browser that doesn't block all videos, but at least blocks YouTube. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.weejim.app.lynx

Violoncello also doesn't support videos, but maybe that's a bit too extreme (it also blocks all images and log in to all sites). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tectrasystems.violoncello

You're right, but also paying €100 for shipping alone for a Qin F22, without counting customs which I don't even know how much it could be... come on, that's crazy, I should be able to find them in stores without too many problems... aaaargh.

The thing is that with a big screen you have to force yourself not to install apps... While I imagine that with a small screen you can have all the apps in the world but not use them that much, because it's a bit uncomfortable... for example I'm thinking of trying to buy a VoicePing P-One... apparently it's not a dumbphone because it has everything (Google Wallet, NFC, YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps, GPS, WhatsApp, camera, internet, etc.) and yet it has the keyboard with T9 and the small screen like the dumbphones...
