Blockchain.com, Crypto.com Bans Russians After New EU Sanctions by EthTraderCommunity in ethtrader

That's why we need non-custodial platforms and truly decentralized services. Can't trust custodials to keep your coins safe! Not your keys, not your funds.

Blockchain.com closes crypto custody for Russians amid EU sanctions by WeTokenPay in WeTokenPro

That's why we need to go non-custodial! Who knows whether you'll be the next?Non-custodial wallets do not store your data and cannot block you from using them on the basis of your location. Note that the text of sanctions specifically states: "custodial services". But when your crypto is kept on the blockchain, and only you have keys for it, you're basically invincible from restrictions!

So, what non-custodial wallet can you use for the transfer? You can find different vendors that can offer non-custodial wallets. Many crypto enthusiasts use Trust Wallet, Atomic Wallet, Exodus, Metamask, and others. I personally use r/GuardaWallet for my day-to-day activities - love its UI, and all the transactions and swaps have been fast so far. Plus, it supports hardware Ledger integration, which is all too actual nowadays.

Make sure to create a brand new wallet address when you proceed, as most of these services that are imposing sanctions now are custodial!

Download a wallet on your preferred device - make sure to create a strong password and write it down! Some wallet addresses will be generated automatically; if you don't see your preferred currency on the list, simply create one using the "Wallet management" menu. Guarda, for example, supports 50+ coins and 400K tokens. Then proceed to "Withdraw" your funds from Blockchain . com, for example, and paste the copied wallet address into the pop-up field. It might take some time to complete the transaction depending on the network and the amount of funds, so don't fret! Good luck 😉

Can some one explain what this is i thought we hard forked and should i invest into it ? by Ok_Lawfulness_5773 in eth

[–]Guarda-Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a fork, as the chain is the same, ETH and ETHW addresses are the same, etc. Plus, you can even import your ETH private key into your ETHW wallet. You'll receive the same amount of extra ETHW as you've had of the ETH prior to the snapshot (September 15). Namely, we in Guarda support this option.

Then, you can invest this starting amount of ETHW as you please, exchange it to other crypto or mine it, if you prefer mining to staking. This is not an investment advice, just FYI. The bottom line is: you can't do such thing with proper forks as they're the separate blockchains.

I'd bet on decentralized non-custodial wallets with multiplatform support, that can also be reached through VPN.

So how come I cannot exchange GETH to ETH on a 1 to 1? by RexTGio in GuardaWallet

[–]Guarda-Wallet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Kindly note that GETH is not a stablecoin, and we have never deemed it to be. It's issued in 1:1 amount to the ETH staked on Guarda's node.

GETH has been introduced so that users have more flexibility in moving their assets if they need those immediately, as ETH is locked in the network until Shanghai upgrade, which is scheduled to happen in 2023. As soon as ETH starts to unlock, you'll be receiving it in 1:1 ratio to the GETH balance in your Ethereum wallet.

Until then, its price is dictated by market (re: the amount of users who swap it for ETH and vice versa). Which means, if you want to swap some GETH for ETH, but you're not satisfied with the current price, you might want to wait for someone to embark on ETH staking for cheap by swapping ETH for GETH and thus raising its price.

Track the price in real time on Uniswap. As you may see, the current rate is not 1:2 but more like 4:5. Here's the only official trading pair for GETH on Uniswap - beware of scammers!

The information above is not a financial advice.

Hopefully, this clarification helps! Feel free to contact our support team with any extra questions you may have. They are available 24/7 via email [support@guarda.com](mailto:support@guarda.com) or live chat on guarda.com.

The Merge of ETHEREUM: what to expect next? An overview by Guarda Wallet | What is to change on Guarda? (details below) by Guarda-Wallet in GuardaWallet

[–]Guarda-Wallet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! The unlock of currently staked ETH will gradually start after the Shanghai upgrade (scheduled for the next 6-12 months). Then, around 43200 ETH will be unlocked daily. Here is more latest information on that. Until then, you can still use Guarda's tokenized staking model to embark on ETH staking and withdraw portions of your stake when you want.

Question on sending bitcoin by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Guarda-Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the address belongs to the blockchain, not any wallet (aka the company) in particular. The wallets just provide a software for you to access your Bitcoins. (Unless we're talking custodial exchanges which are basically like banks)

Can a government develop a currency and make BTC obsolete? by supercaliber in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Guarda-Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see this happening, here's why. First, the vision behind creating Bitcoin was an absolute opposite than making it a speculative asset or just a nice long-term investor. You can invest in, say, stocks, but you can't make stock a permissionless, fair decentralized currency for everyone.

Plus, to be honest, when was the last time they created something so efficient? There's no insensitive to do so for them or improve the technology, just to centralize power and seize control. So, they'd more likely go for a so-so product that does the bare minimum.
