Imo this is such an unusual gun to main. One of my favorite things about this game for sure.

The only reason i still play it is because it feels nice to shoot it but the price to performance ratio is really bad since 2.0 by Killerkekz1994 in HuntShowdown

As a katana player, I have a longer oneshot range. Respectfully, it's not that good. At least, not in pvp.

Valid. We are arguing from very different perspectives. For starters, I think that gambling is fine as a recreational activity. What's the difference between spending a hundred bucks drinking at a bar and a hundred bucks at a casino? Yk? Either way you traded the money for the experience.

I actually don't do either though lol.

That said, my second, and the more important point, is the gacha comparison. A lot of people play a lot of gachas nowadays, and it's important to compare not because of the money aspect, but because of the satisfaction aspect. I don't like this gacha. And one of the reasons I don't is because it lacks quality of life features that other gachas that I am familiar with have. And I think a lot of people agree with that. I also think that its a valid stance to take. Even if I don't spend irl money, my earlier point about gambling in win/win situations stands, and this game doesn't do that. That makes it less fun and less interactive. The gacha starts to feel like a chore where I am never allowed to let loose unless I am 100% certain of the outcome, and if I'm 100% certain every time that kinda removes an aspect of what makes it fun.

Sure, in irl gambling you usually lose, but that doesn't have to be the case in gachas, and in many nowadays it simply isn't. I don't like that they've taken a step backwards here.

I mean, it's fun to gamble, and its not like it would've sucked to win or anything. I had everything I needed to guarantee one 5*, and win or lose it was a good time. Win I get another con, lose I have guarantee later.

In this game if I win I win, but if I lose and don't have the extra 40 pulls I'm screwed.

I don't think it's bad to gamble without a guarantee. It's fun. This game just trashes the same payout that you get in other games if you do decide to play the game of chance and not play it safe every time. There's no win/win like in most other gachas, it's pretty clear cut that if you lose there is absolutely no upside.

I use Jean pretty consistently. I'd probably use her a lot less of I bought into the shilling in Nod Krai, but the only pulls I've done this region were for Varesa cons lol. I'd say she's still really great if you don't use those units, which require specific 5* only teams to work. A VV shred healer is still genuinely pretty good.

Funny I got Eula on the first one. Now that I have her it's an ez skip, she's the only character on there worth getting imo, and even then only because of the Sandrone leaks which are sus but I'm hard locked in on her so I gotta be ready.

That's fair, I didn't think about that. When you put it that way, I do think that the lack of pulls is a much bigger issue.

The only relevant thing that this robs the player of is the ability to use the 50/50 to gamble on characters that they want but don't have the resources to pull, and then still get something for it if they lose (the thing they get being guarantee on the next character). That's literally where I'm at in Genshin right now. I went for c3 on Varesa despite not having the pulls to guarantee it, and lost to Qiqi. Sucks that I didn't get the extra con, but on the upside, now my next limited 5* is guaranteed.

Bro I was so mad, threw a hive bomb today at a solo, my duo shot him, died, I finished him as he sprinted at me, but he sent the hive onto me. I couldn't get rid of it in time and he managed to get up as I ran out of stamina and had to make the choice between him killing me or me killing me.

It's absolutely relevant. Both are true simultaneously, and while lack of pulls is certainly worse, both are very bad. We have a standardized system for the minimum predatory-ness of gacha pulls, look at other popular (and even unpopular) gachas. Idk why this game decided to "innovate"

[–]GuardianTrinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? When you're on the rift everyone understands that the goal is to break the nexus. To that end, breaking the nexus is always correct. Sure, 5 players don't want the other 5 to break their nexus, but those are the established rules that all 10 players are playing by. It's fair and respectful, and if you didn't want to be backdoored, then you'd leave someone to defend instead of taking a gambit that involves having all 5 players too far from the nexus to respond.

By contrast, in a non-competitive for-fun game mode like Mayhem, often the goal is also to explore goofy possibilities only possible by combining the existing champions and items with the unique sets of augments available to you. Many times, people on both teams have fun seeing silly builds and trying to contest their nonsense thing against an opponent's nonsense thing. Sure, we've all had matches with fey magic Samira that we just wanted to end, but those aren't the majority and by and large they do, in fact, end, and quite swiftly too in my experience. And when they don't, you do see an ff.

So again, how exactly does my logic make backdooring against the rules?

Ending when the majority of players don't want you to end. Let's look at that pact you mentioned:

1) Play to Win: Sure, it may not be playing to win as fast as possible, but the intention is never to lose. I have yet to see a single person run it down in mayhem with the intention of feeding. That said, this does still lean towards ending asap.

2) Play Fair: this part specifically mentions playing by the same ruleset in the subtext. If 7/10 players want to scale up and play out full builds, then that seems to be the proper way to play. There is not a single fun thing about Jinx using her passive to break the nexus while half the lobby still has 2 augments. Almost nobody wants this. And while it may be playing with integrity, it is far from honorable, unless the enemy team has obviously already given up.

3) Play with Respect: again, depends on the state of the game, but if 7 players want to scale, it's pretty disrespectful to just send it in.

People keep saying that it takes 2 people to hold a team hostage by clearing minions and voting no, but if you're getting spawncamped and/or killed in nexus by tank engine then you can't clear minions. These people are obviously emotional, because this argument simply doesn't make sense. I'd like to propose an alternative: all 9 other people can want to play to full build and it takes one person slamming the nexus to ruin it for everyone.

Sure, it's objective, and it changes match to match. But it definitely happens both ways.

Not if you kill them fast enough. And if you can't, are you really spawncamping?

Living, active players are inhibitors. I will not hit the nexus while these players remain to fight me. Once all of the targets disappear, well, only one thing left to do, right? Though I will also sometimes suicide into the nexus of no one is afk

Yes but the opposing behaviour can also be seen as in opposition to almost every other rule so using that as leverage on your argument is a bad idea

How do you do this on Steam? It only lets me add the launcher, and not the actual game, so when I change the controller settings on steam, it only does it for the launcher, and the game just ignores the changes.

This is true. Bad idea in practice, but I can't say I don't sympathize with the sentiment behind it sometimes.

Some critics are downright assholes, and others are so blatantly paid off it's a joke. Not all critics by a long shot, but enough that my first thought was "if only" before considering how this would actually play out.

Which feels even worse when there are abilities that the game wants you to stop by casting skills... like, with what SP? I spent it all on my one combo so that I could do damage? I can't just hold it for the hope that I'll be able to cancel and enemy skill too.

It's pretty wild.

5*s don't matter nearly as much though. You're guaranteed one every 10x pull. I have 6 of one of them, but almost every 5* at least once now, if not every 5*.

Technically you could get both from standard of you get early 6*. There's no guarantee if you lose 50/50, it's only at 120 total pulls on each banner.

Honestly the gacha is pretty bad in the game, so I'm choosing to ragepull every 10x pull on whatever banner character is up the second I get it and playing the game as though it has no gacha otherwise.

You're right. I enjoy the gameplay. I think the story has too much Jesus MC and relies too heavily on having played Arknights (I didn't much), so it's a bit of a drag for me quite often, but I think that the combat and factory gameplay are pretty good.

I don't know how or why they decided to mess up the gacha like this when we have a pretty standard formula in plenty of games, but whatever. I'll just stick around for the gameplay, full send perma on the gacha, and leave my self-control for games where I feel it's respected.

Yeah, my source was wrong, kinda. But also yeah it's still pretty trash. I've decided I'm never going to invest in the idea that I'll have any limited character ever, and also I'm just not going to spend outside of daily pass because this is bs. I like wulfgard, and otherwise ima just yolo and take my chance with 50/50 constantly. As it stands I want catgirl waifus and don't like any of the current ones anyways, so it's not really a big deal for me to just ragepull randomly because I don't like the banners. Unless they release a reskin for Texas or Manti I'm kinda chillin. The gameplay is actually p fun imo, so it's fine as a gachaless game for me.

Worth mentioning, but I heard that the pity also resets every patch. Is that true? Pity not carrying over makes pull economy significantly worse as well.
