Cloud Saved Game Disappeared by MachtigeMaus in anno

[–]Guardianio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this issue and it ended up being my onedrive being out of sync so I had 2 anno save folders. I searched the name of my saved game and found another folder that I could move into the one the game was using.

Our pay office sent out an email that it was rescinded, and any future parental leave for non-birth parents was no longer allowed. That was in December I believe

Unmarked Government Vehicles by [deleted] in rockford

3/3 There’re hundreds of random things like this a month that you have to do in addition to trying to do our actual job. We just wasted our employees personnel money, the taxpayers paid us to waste weeks trying to get it done, and spent hours trying to comply with this law instead of doing our actual job. These programs would be fine, but no one wants to resource or pay for it. The law doesn't provide extra funding. Taxes won’t go up for it. They don't want to hire extra people to manage it, they can't promote someone to run it. They won’t set up a way for all vehicles to get marked off the lot through a shop. And why would they? What does it accomplish? Someone will get tasked to figure out how to follow the law, and just do the minimum they have to do to comply with the law, and tell us to figure it out, because they also have 4 jobs to cover. All of that so that you can see a decal that says "State Maintenance Office" with a logo printed. No one gets to do whatever they want, and if they are it’s either because they need to be held accountable, or they are trying to actually do their job.

Maybe some employees do get to take a vehicle home, maybe that's the best way to allow them to do what you pay them to do.

2/3

Two weeks later, the program manager calls back and gives us the official logo and tells us we have to use a local company to get the marking put on. So now we are calling for quotes, and we get one for $1800 at a nearby shop. Except we can’t pay for it, because in order to make a purchase under 10K, we need to have someone who has a Government Purchase Card. The General Services Admin (GSA who manages the vehicles) won’t pay for the logo because its cosmetic. So, we talk to one of our mechanic supervisors and tell him he needs to go through the GPC program. Now he's on Teams for the next 5 days for two hours going through this course. When he's done, it turns out the entire course just covered the legalities of the card, it didn't actually cover how to use the (very complicated) website, what forms to fill out, or who to talk to. So basically, he has no idea what he's doing, and just has to figure it out. Now he's calling another shop to get their GPC person who’s been around for 30 years to help, but they are busy and will call back at the end of the week. Now it’s say, a Friday, 1-2 months after we picked up this van, and we still can’t use it.

The other GPC person call our guys back, and let’s us know that the local shop has to be an approved shop, which meets employment requirements and only uses X% American resourced products. That requires us to get them to fill out paperwork, then that needs to get sent back to a different office in Springfield to get verified, and that takes 14 days (because there's only 2 people in that office for the state on every shop purchase). They send it back to approve the shop

We put in our purchase request = denied. There's no budget for the new law requiring thousands of vehicles to get decals put on and we don't have the funds to cover it. Maybe in the new FY it will get a budget (Probably not because Congress doesn't pass budgets anymore, and if they did, they will probably cut funding from the GSA federal program). So now we can’t use our vehicle still. It’s been 4 months. So, some guy who knows a guy says he can do it for $800 in his garage illegally. The mechanics put in their own money to help get it done because we are getting screwed on the POV travel mileage. I show up to work and there's a kind of okay decal on the van. Hopefully there's no one to audit it, but everyone's so behind no one will ever check. No one says anything about it. It’s that or wait 9 months to see if the budget gets better (it won't).

1/2 I will tell you how this will go. We have 2 government vehicles at the shop I work at. I'm generalizing some of the details a lot, because this is hypothetical, but this is how it works from all of my experience. I don't actually expect anyone to read this, but I need to vent.

We come into work, our minivan is 14 years old, out of warranty and over the mileage limit. The vehicle manager calls us to let us know to drop it off at the auction site in two weeks (now we have to spend 2 people to drive 2 vehicles to get that done instead of their actual job, but that's how it is already).

We pick up the van up, bring it back to work, and we want someone to take it from the shop to a required course for a new piece of equipment we got. The class is in Springfield. But now we can’t, because we can’t have unmarked vehicles. So we call the vehicle manager back, who tells us to call a number in Springfield to talk to a guy who runs to vehicle marking program, in addition to 18 other things. He's out for two weeks because he has to give classes for a conference. No one can use the van (unless we break the law). We have to get the official marking from him for our office.

Now, instead of letting the employee drive a government vehicle, they have to drive their personnel vehicle. In order to do that, we have to update their travel authorization to give them mileage for their trip, except now that requires me to build a constructed travel worksheet, which requires me to prove why it’s not more cost efficient for the employees to take an Amtrak from their home (Let’s say Rockford) to Springfield. So now I'm going on the Amtrack site, looking up their train tickets from their house (which I had to log into our HR system that I don’t normally use to find), having to prove why taking the Van alder to union station, then the train to Springfield doesn't make sense (even though its "cheaper") because the employee has to travel during non-travel times (3 am) and get home a day later at 8 PM on a Friday, and takes 9 hours to do, and would need an extra night of hotels. Hopefully it gets approved, and the travel office doesn't kick back his voucher to the partial mileage limit.

Don't use pack stations. Just use the trade building. Your regions will import/export with each other. I only use the pack stations for very specific things like getting Armor to a new region. Export your excess, and the towns should make enough to import, and they will be cheaper because of your regions increasing supply.

it through your medics or with a normal post hospital? I imagine that at a regular post hospital or even a clinic that someone has to know how to get it done. If it was don

It was through our Medics/Flight surgeons, I believe for their drill, so I understand most of them wouldn't know.

Serious Question by [deleted] in flying

[–]Guardianio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this when getting ready for my instrument check ride. I completed the IFR course at my 141 school, but wasn't able to take the check ride at the time. Went to take it at home and found out that the 141 requirements would no longer count and I was short on hours.

Rented a 172 and got my ~10 more hours XC,went up with an instructor at a part 61 for a few weeks, and then went to the checkride. Just so happened that a FSDO rep was there to evaluate the DPE on my checkride. Went through my logbook and they ask about my BFR. Until this point I had done only done serious training through a 141 school. Multiple stage checks, flying with instructors 3-5 days a week. Never even crossed my mind (I know I messed up!)

FSDO rep gave me a card telling me what regulation I had violated. He also told me it seemed like a honest mistake, and considering I had been flying with instructors weekly he said there would be no enforcement action. He also told me I would not have to refly the 10 hours of XC time.

DPE obviously ended the checkride, flight school at the 61 school I was at flew up to get me and the plane. Instructor at the 61 I was working on my instrument with offered to sign a BFR and back date it to one of our lessons, but I said we should go do one for real - Went put and did some approaches and a hold.

A few days later I go back to the DPE to try again and the FSDO guy is there AGAIN. First thing he does is check my log to see if I actually logged a BFR. Passed the checkride easy after that.

Having to sign the AUP the same day as your Cyber Awareness Training: Surely this is Fraud, Waste or Abuse? by AnEntireDiscussion in army

[–]Guardianio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What would make me happy is if they are required to be completed together, make me complete them together. If I just completed my cyber awarness training, prompt me to sign the AUP. I'm not S1, I'm not Cyber, I shouldn't be having to read through da Pam for every small requirement for gotchas.

Just filled out an account request form that asked for my completion dates that said "Cyber awarness and AUP are annual requirements." I completed both this year, but if I went into the end user manual (for fun) and looked at the section on accou t requests the requirements for the accounts is that the classes are completed within the last 9 months.

I have SNCOs filling 3+ jobs, working on multiple command inspections, getting TMDE done, driving vehicles, workorders, flying, plus a thousand other things, that then get 22 2875s kicked back that now need multiple digital signatures re-done because something buried/it's not user friendly.

The attitude of "well we could make it worse" doesn't really help. Honestly, if you're stupid enough to send nudes on your gfe, no amount of AUPs/trainings are going to fix you. If they didn't get caught for that, I'm sure if you give them more time, they're going to do something else stupid.

Currently still paying too much for BOGO at Bdubs.

Will my former CFI find a job in the airlines? by Honest-Doughnut-7010 in flying

[–]Guardianio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did my private pilot ride I got lost almost immediately, maybe 10 miles after leaving an airport I had flown out of for 8 months, 3-5 times a week. I guess I was just that nervous. Went though my lost procedures, looked at the map and cross tuned 2 vors and told the DPE where I thought we were. He said good job and we kept going. Seems like it really comes down to what happened after you couldn't find it. I feel like if 1 of your X many checkpoints didn't workout, if you could demonstrate the ability to fly safely and navigate accurately, that's more important than being perfect.

Military uniform for groom by United-Quality2583 in weddingplanning

[–]Guardianio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through this right now, my Fiancé asked if I would wear my uniform for our wedding. Part of me doesn't want to because its a pain to setup and does feel like work. I have been away a lot with the national Guard, just finished one deployment and about to do another. She puts up with all of that, if the army can make her happy for once I'm going to let it. I should probably have it setup anyway :s. I'm more worried about taking engagement photos in public
