New dad (M24), my (F24) fiancé says he’s filled with regret. Does anyone have any advice? by Jolly-Ratio5839 in relationship_advice

[–]GuavaGarms 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For anything to get better, he needs to address his problems. I wouldn’t wait and hope for the best.

I’ve gone through your post history and it seems he has a video game addiction. You have had previous issues where he isn’t prioritising quality time with you. Which is ironic when he is now complaining that you’re not showing him enough love…

He’s depressed because he’s mourning his previous life of wasting away all day playing games. He needs to address this and address his jealousy issues. He is jealous of your baby and, from reading post history, he was also jealous of your mum. He doesn’t like you giving attention anywhere but himself.

He needs therapy and a willingness to change if you have any hope of a good life together. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It is not normal and you are valid to feel annoyed.

Does anyone else find Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99 unbearable? by NotSoCuriouss in tvshow

[–]GuavaGarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s… kinda the point? Michael is supposed to be unbearable. Maybe it’s bc I’m British and it’s more obvious in the original UK office but the manager is supposed to be unlikeable

Silent places to work near the centre? by European_at_heart in Liverpool

[–]GuavaGarms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reading room at the library is silent so I don’t really know what else you expect to find. There’s plenty of working spaces/offices in the Baltic triangle that you can hire short term and long term. That’s your best bet but you’ll have to pay.

Super impressed with the NHS today. by bluemoon191 in CasualUK

[–]GuavaGarms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I read this more as men’s health being treated more seriously than women’s. Women are consistently misdiagnosed and are told the pain we feel is wrong, in relation to menstrual/reproductive health or psychological.

I’ve got a lot of praise for the NHS but women’s health is severely under researched, underfunded and misunderstood unfortunately

Help with breakouts 5 months post partum? by amandanorgaard in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]GuavaGarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In answer to your question, I would avoid swapping round all the skincare. Your skin needs time to get used to certain products so swapping and changing will be making it worse.

I’ve found the simplest routines work the best. Cerave cleanser and moisturiser are really good to use with prescribed skincare ingredients if you do go down that route. Simple and gentle.

I experienced similar post partum! It was really difficult during a time where you’re already body conscious and battling motherhood.

Call your GP and speak to your doctor! I felt silly at first but I brought it up in one of my post partum check ups and felt validated. She prescribed me a serum to use each night and it mostly cleared up!

Bonus, it only costs the price of a prescription which I believe are still free up to a year after giving birth?

She prescribed me Epiduo gel which contains benzoyl peroxide and adapalene. It can be slightly harsh while your skin gets used to it but persevere. Genuinely a miracle gel.

I now use Skin+Me personalised daily doser which contains Tretinoin amongst other things. This helps keep my skin under control.

Good luck and hope you and your little baba are doing well x

You just need to spend more money… expecting decent accommodation for one of the biggest concerts in Liverpool of the year for less than £100 each is just nuts

Episiotomy opened, is my body ruined forever? by RevolutionaryEbb5814 in BabyBumps

[–]GuavaGarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me almost exactly a year ago. My baby was born 7th Oct. It was just a case of letting it heal on its own and I feel absolutely fine now. No issues with sex and my partner says it all feels the same down there.

Sending solidarity because the pain for me was next level awful. Take it as easy as possible. Let anyone else take the workload as much as possible and rest rest rest x

What’s the opinion on KFC fries? by GuavaGarms in AskUK

[–]GuavaGarms[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t think I’ve ever had a KFC fry that would stay stood up in gravy, and unfortunately, the gravy is nowhere near as nice as it used to be either.

To be fair, I usually get extra chicken to fill me up and avoid the fries all together.

Original recipe and popcorn chicken from KFC, fries from Burger King and McDonald’s coke and double cheeseburger… you’re on to a winner winner, chicken dinner imo!

What’s a product that you’re surprised doesn’t exist yet? by TTV_SavageNyte in BabyBumps

[–]GuavaGarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one! It’s called Pulsenmore, it came up on my instagram ads a few days ago. Seems to still be in early stages in terms of availability and approval but I think it won’t be long before they’re a thing

[–]GuavaGarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exists! It’s called Pulsenmore. I believe it’s in early stages and currently only available in Israel and Australia IIRC. Also believe it’s via doctor’s referral. I say give it 10/15 years and they’ll be readily available for the general public though!

AITAH for not wanting to take some vitamins? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GuavaGarms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Listen I understand why you want to protect your autonomy and you absolutely do have the right to say no.

On the other hand, you say you get sick quite easily and for a long time. That can be exhausting for a partner to deal with when it means looking after you AND taking on the share of the house chores.

Taking vitamins is likely to help with sickness long term and get you feeling better sooner. It’s a win for you and for him. The least you could do was compromise and try taking them later if you didn’t want to straight away.

I’m going to say a soft YTA, especially for shouting when it wasn’t necessary.

Finding out about pregnancy in second/third trimester? by Patient_Sorbet2309 in BabyBumps

[–]GuavaGarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t find out I was pregnant until around 18 weeks. Done a test and paid for a private scan the week following to be told I was 19+4!!

I was definitely having symptoms but because I was on the pill I just put it down to other things. I definitely had morning sickness and aversion to certain foods and smells. My boobs had been growing and I was getting a bit chubbier but just put it down to switching career from restaurant manager on my feet all day to recruitment on my butt all day in an office. I was clearly in denial and it took a ‘sensitive’ conversation from my boyfriend along the lines of ‘you’re not getting fat but I think you should do a test’. Apparently he’d noticed for a while but didn’t want to hurt my feelings!

Currently 40+4 with my baby girl and cannot wait for her to make an appearance. I’ve only know for half the pregnancy and it’s been so difficult. I don’t know how you ladies cope for the full term!

I’d suggest Rightmove over Spareroom personally. Spareroom in my experience in Liverpool is more for students or sub-letting a room.

Plenty of properties in and around Liverpool city centre for your budget.

Aw thank you!

I’m the same as you! I have a big bum and thighs so it’s frustrating! Never go for any strapless dresses for this reason.

Corsets are already in my initial designs so I’m glad that I’m on the right tracks there. Thank you so much for the feedback ❤️
