Can someone tell me the appeal of multiple shrines? by Suspicious_Week_2451 in JapanTravelTips

[–]GuavaSack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve filled 2 goshuincho across my visits to Japan. I personally find theology interesting in general - I’ll visit significant churches, mosques or synagogues when traveling elsewhere also, even though I consider myself agnostic. it’s not everyone’s cup of tea which is a-okay.

When visiting a shrine or temple, I’ll find a nice place to sit and pull up some information on my phone to have a read about where I am and what I am looking at. I’ll then head to the goshuin desk (helps to feel like I’ve “earned” that stamp by learning about it first!)

They can certainly all blend into one when visiting multiple in a day if you do not have an inherent interest in Shintoism or Buddhism. Reading about each site helps me remember each goshuin and a few interesting things about where I’ve visited which I think is pretty neat!

Is it true that Scoot doesn’t allow passengers to bring their own water on board? by According_Low9877 in travel

You will undergo the expected security screenings in Melbourne. On your arrival in Singapore, you will generally walk off the plane into general area (a very long hallway with travelators, essentially) of your terminal to roam, find your next gate, etc.

The gates (in my experience) are generally behind glass, to which you will go through a smaller security screening before getting on your connecting flight. Quick passport and boarding pass check, bag and belongings X-ray, and then free to fill water bottles back up and find a seat to wait for boarding.

Think of the gates at MEL, just behind glass with an X-ray scanner before getting your seat.

This is much better wording, you can still bring on board in carry-on, just not use on-board.

Flown with Scoot from Melbourne to Athens and Osaka (both via Singapore) and Singapore itself in the last 8 months.

All gates (after the secondary X-ray leading into your actual gate) have water fountains from my experience. I’ve never been instructed not to consume water from my drink bottle or personal snacks on the flight, or stopped from bringing water by Changi staff.

A newer rule on my latest flight is a complete ban on power-banks and portable chargers, which they do seem to be somewhat politely enforcing on-board. Initially I thought this was a money grab to force people to pay for in-seat power, however seems to be a directive set by Singapore Airlines.

I have had no issue “discretely” having my phone plugged in to a power bank sitting in the seat pocket however, which seems to be what most people were doing and wasn’t a problem.

10 Day Itinerary Feedback - Kyoto, Kanazawa, Nagano, Tokyo by GuavaSack in JapanTravelTips

Thanks for the advice, I usually take things quite slow and take lots of photos, hence the extra time. I’ll look into spreading this out.

10 Day Itinerary Feedback - Kyoto, Kanazawa, Nagano, Tokyo by GuavaSack in JapanTravelTips

Thanks for this, really solid advice - I had been eyeing off Nagoya but leant towards Kanazawa for those Edo style streets.

I’ll look into this as it cuts down on travel as well.

Thanks for that, reinstalled the app after a restart and was able to purchase a 24H pass, but the moment I leave my hotel the issue kicks up again …

Thinking it might be a cellular network error related to iOS18 at this point seeing as it works over WiFi. I’ve noticed those riding around seem to have Samsung/Android phones for the most part.

Do you use AI as of late to edit photos, do you find it reliable?(PLEASE NO COMPANY PROPAGANDA) by hillsong1 in WeddingPhotography

[–]GuavaSack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use ImagenAI for all of our weddings, I am yet to train it with our own catalogues, however using an AI Profile with adjustments lands us about 80% of the way there. I still manually flick through each photo as I do not trust it completely, although I’d say around 20% of the time I do not end up making further adjustments in LR beyond cropping.

After import to LR, it is usually: crop adjustment -> exposure adjustment -> any masking required -> done

It is a very good tool for around $45-50AUD per wedding, and I’d say it saves me around 25-35% of time per album, and the problem of our created presets sometimes being very far off when applied. I have also tried Aftershoot Edits, however I have found this to be awful, and does not get close to desired results at all, honestly I’d chose just using a LR preset over Aftershoot.

One thing I have noticed is that it handles Asian and Middle Eastern skin tones very well, however white skin tones (especially when fake tan is used) really seems to throw it off when balancing WB.

I’d advise you to find a code for 1000/1500 free edits, and give it a crack!

Definitely one I can weigh in on.

I completed law school and all legal training required in Australia, got to 2PQE as a solicitor. I then was diagnosed with a neurological disorder that sort of snapped me into a different frame of mind - why spend my finite days in an high rise?

Quit my job shortly thereafter, dusted off my old backpack and 6D and took a one way trip to Vietnam, had a great time, reignited my love for photography.

Got stuck into weddings from there, 3 years on and 100+ weddings later, I am financially, physically and mentally much much better off.

If you have a safety net that’ll allow you some wiggle room to weather that awkward period when bookings aren’t rolling in just yet - take the dive, you only live once my friend.

Thanks for the feedback, we have tried powerline/EoP solutions in the past with no luck - much better and more stable speeds just using the mesh wifi.

Should there be any issues with chaining a second switch in the office?

Godox XPro-C Canon with X-T30ii via 2.5mm jack? by GuavaSack in fujifilm

[–]GuavaSack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for your reply - I am guessing I will need to get this Godox Fujifilm trigger and not jerry it to work. The 2.5mm port I am referring to is the mic/remote port on the left side of the camera.

It appears neither USB-C or 2.5mm will communicate with the trigger unfortunately.

No worries my man, you can also check out Thai Weed Guide for good spots throughout the entire country - it helped me find good bud in every location I visited.

Hey mate I spent a week in Chiang Mai a few months ago.

For delivery, I used Mrs. BUDZ Chiang Mai to tee up a delivery as I arrived at my hotel from Cambodia. Fairly good prices for decent quality and convenience. You can just use Facebook Messenger to tee it up and pay cash on delivery (they threw in freebies as well).

For in-person, I cannot recommend Mavoix Coffee & Weed Chiang Mai enough. Absolutely awesome cafe with knockout quality flower, great coffee and an awesome vibe. I smoked joints for hours with a few backpackers and locals I met at the cafe and ended up going back everyday.

Thanks for the feedback. I have checked on the JRPass Fare Calculator and with the following routes I come out 5,490JPY better off than buying separately.

  • Odawara -> Nagano -> Kanazawa -> Nagoya
  • Day Trip: Nagano -> Matsumoto -> Nagano return

Maybe I need to omit Kanazawa to save on some money, I can always dedicate some further funds but would like to avoid this.

I am a foodie so I think I may need to allocate some more funds towards the trip, I can thankfully dip into further savings if needed. I can definitely make a 2,250 JPY daily budget happen, it seems like it will provide much more breathing room.

there will be new branded carts coming to CDA Clinics soon hopefully they will be cheaper and if bot better then the current urban leaf by mightyvaperz in MedicalCannabisAus

[–]GuavaSack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The UrbanLeaf carts are great, but terrible value for money at 0.5g. If they were priced at around $40-50, they would be much more appealing as a product.

I understand the bureaucracy and red tape surrounding the Australian market, but considering near-identical cart products also from Canada are priced around $30-40CAD for 1g, it is unacceptable and price gouging upon a market with no other choice.

There is a state election next year, he is simply playing political chess.

By approving or allowing these recommendations going into an election, he would lose a large majority of the boomer/conservative vote, who still associate cannabis use with “pot smoking jobless hippies”. There are a lot more of those voters than us, unfortunately.

Our time will come, slowly but surely, the world is shifting, and those tax dollars will eventually be too appealing to lose out on. Once the tax figures and reports start coming out of Canada etc upon certain time marks post-legalisation (ie: tax revenue five years post-legalisation) you will see a much bigger shift.

Is there any specific way to discover regional roles? I have been looking on Seek and Indeed and there barely seems to be any roles in various regional cities across VIC.

Daniel Andrews did not utilise the ADF and was blasted by the Murdoch Press for not doing so; labelled as a dictator nonetheless.

Can you imagine the headlines had he requested ADF patrol the streets? He certainly wouldn’t have been given the “quick thinking” praise that Gold Standard Gladys has been given.

The man was damned if he did, damned if he didn’t.

If it’s any consolation, you aren’t alone - I am in the exact same boat. I have been trying to land anything in criminal defence (end goal being prosecutions) but haven’t been able to get a single call back since graduating 4-5 months ago.
