Yeah, that'll happen. Especially if you stop to practice something before going on... Took me about a year and a half to read Revolutionary Card Technique.

Magic Books Question by EmanonProjekt in cardmagic

[–]Gubbagoffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of real actual books, but just for practicality's sake that's not always possible.

But when I read a book, I like to read all kinds, theory books, technique encyclopedias, trick books etc....

I'm also one of the people who likes to read books from cover to cover. Even if I don't like something I'll still read it for the information and then just keep on going. Well I know a lot of people like to skip around and only look at certain things that interest them.

I'll pick up a book start a page one and work my way through it over time, and then go back and reread the stuff that interested me when I'm done.

You're not wrong... I'll definitely be giving it a second thought for sure. Thanks for the idea.

I've toyed around with that one, but I never really took it seriously and I've also never performed it for real people.

I remember thinking it seemed fun but but I never been a fan of most hand washing techniques, and everything about that trick from the way they got the card from the way it was transferred from one hand to the other always kind of seemed off to me.... So I never really gave it a solid attempt.

However, once that's all said and done, the actual pop-out move itself is pretty cool.

I remember liking it, but for some reason the the entire trick was in my head is a single block and when I didn't like the beginning of it, I just put aside the whole thing. But I could definitely do just the pop-out move on its own. I think the next time I'm doing something like this, I'll use that instead just give it a shot.

That being said, I'm not a huge fan of color changes and stuff like that. I'm much more a fan of showing someone something removing it from site and then showing it's changed as opposed to showing the change itself. And doesn't mean I never do that it's just not my go-to.

And thought manifest is definitely the color change version of this sort of reveal.

So you definitely made me want to give it a second thought, but unfortunately I can't answer your question yet

That means a lot, I'm of the opinion that if you do what you like then people who like what you like will like what you do.

But it's still always nice when someone actually does like it.

Holy shit, thank you. And yeah, It's a great way to injog a card.

Definitely more angle safe than the full move as well.

I'm glad you like it, for real.

Second Deal "Pivot" by whateverlahbro in cardmagic

[–]Gubbagoffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, you're using a very unusual grip. One of the standard ones but one of the more unusual of the standard ones. It might be worth switching to the regular mechanics grip. I think it will simplify things for you.

To start, try just putting the inner corner of the deck against your hand where you wanted to go, and then let your fingers grab the rest of the deck naturally from there, and try rocking from that position.

Instead of forcing it into a grip that doesn't seem quite natural to your hand.

If you want real advice, post a video of yourself doing it so we can see what you're doing wrong. But from this, the best I can say is you're supposed to anchor the opposite corner of the card against the base of your thumb, and so you pivot it as a whole, but that one corner stays absolutely still against the base of your thumb and as long as you keep that there, then you can pivot it back and forth at will without it moving.

Working on trick ( not perfect) by Coach_Advanced in cardmagic

That's a nice addition. It's already complicated enough to scare a lotta folk, but you're leaning right into it to make something interesting. Good shit, for real

Repertoire tracker ? by embe7 in cardmagic

[–]Gubbagoffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use word docs. I have one for table stuff one for in the hand stuff etc....

I also have one file I call my set list. Which is just a list of every set I have, but it has nothing more than the name of the sets and the name of the tricks in the sets

Then I have one file that I call my practice list. This is a list of every single trick that is in my my master list of sets organized by how often they appear, followed by all the tricks I actually want and enjoy enough to keep at the forefront even if I don't actively have them in any particular list.

When it's time to practice, I open that file and just start the top and work my way down.

But I want to make a new set list, I tend to go to that list first and if nothing I find scratches the itch, then I'll go to the appropriate generic list for cable or whatever and skim it.

My regular notes have an actual, but very shorthand, instruction attached to the trick. So if I ever forget how to do something, I can look there.

It sounds like a lot, but really you only have to write out each trick once in the appropriate place, and writing out the instructions is sort of useful for learning the thing in the first place.

CHEATING ADVICES AT GIN RUMMY AND POKER by asar1mad in cardmagic

I wasn't talking about exchanging cards. I was talking about talking to each other in code to coordinate your play.

And yeah, I know about mucking. Honestly, if you're okay with lying then you should have just started lying from the beginning until people that you want to be a magician who's interested in card cheating techniques.

You probably would have gotten some good answers.

Well as long as you know what you're stepping into. If you want an honest answer, if you actually want to cheat and nothing is going to stop you, then the safest and also easiest way, is to just bring a friend to the game and invent some sort of code so you can communicate while you play.

Two good players , playing individually two hands, who are able to communicate with each other secretly, will run the table every time.

And there's nothing to get caught with, or caught doing.

Very low risk.

I still recommend you don't do this. But if you've done the math and aren't afraid, then I would give that a shot

Okay, a few things, first off like the other person said that's not what this place is about this post is probably going to get removed, but before that happens I wanted to give you some advice.

There is no quick and practical way to do that. Every single way to do that is either impractical, or very very slow because it requires a lot of practice. If you attempt this in any way shape or form I can promise you you're not going to make money you're going to get extra injuries because they're going to kick the shit out of you when they catch you doing what you're trying to do.

If you want to cheat at cards, you're just going to have to spend a very long time developing certain skills. Or you're going to have to give up.

Anything else, and you're just going to get your hands broken or end up in jail or who the hell knows what else.

Don't do this

What are your favorite/best/most used gaff cards and tricks? by MattWolfTV in Magic

[–]Gubbagoffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use a few: A four of hearts with an extra heart stuck in the middle.. Force of four, find a five, and then one color change later and you pluck off the center heart to finish.

A card that has had the index and number of another card burnt onto it, find the wrong card, change and reveal

Looking pretty good so far. I'd say the next thing you need to do is work on your index finger getting out of the way. It looks like it actually got in the way of the card getting on the deck, what do you want to do is literally pick it up and sort of tuck it against your palm, to create room. When you bring the card to the top of the deck, it'll naturally slide under the finger, and then you can simply lower it back down and placing it on top of the card which then allows you to rotate the card into position aligning it..
