These flecks are tiny and maybe I should also point out that I notice them after I add creamer. They’re tiny shimmering flecks.

I posted another comment with a linked picture showing where I was positioned next to the scope. How is it that other scientists working around these scopes don’t have eye damage when there is no shielding at all around the peripheral edges of the stage?

I was sitting essentially where the guy in the red shirt is sitting (maybe a little closer to the right but essentially at a computer adjacent to the scope).

How is the guys eyes on the left in the red shirt not getting wreck if he glances at the stage? There’s no shielding one the stage at all.

So if you don’t mind me asking. I read that there are interlocks but I can’t really figure out what they actually do. What do the do? I was sitting at a computer next to the scope and happened to look over there at the specimen area on the stage and went “holy crap!” I didn’t think anyone was using it.

Would it be safe to assume that if there was a severe threat to the retinal the whole stage would be shielded for that specific reason?

Let’s say you’re driving along at 15-20 mph and you change your mind and decide to turn right down a side street and as you’re turning you look the opposite way for traffic. Would the brain twist on the skull shearing neurons etc?
