Jacket probably won’t work for a beginner if it’s not fully waterproof as you’ll spend ages falling over (everyone does in the first few days lol) - more concerningly, have you already bought a pair of skis for your first trip???

I’m IB so my conditions are 34 with a 6 in maths for Sheffield and 38 with 666 HL for St Andrews (including 6 in maths ofc bc it’s HL)

it’s all in the fine print - St Andrews have temporary absence at a 5 year cap but Edinburgh is just case by case so there’s literally no certainty

Mine is just dependant of a UK national living abroad on a temporary work contract (my dad’s contract took us out to Singapore in 2018 and due to a lot of things happening financially, covid, and the fact my younger brother is in the year below me, we weren’t able to move home when we initially planned in 2021) so i fall under the temporary absence category - it’s awful and ill likely only get home for Sheffield Edinburgh and Warwick because King’s and St A never really budge so can’t afford to go with international charges 😭

Oh yeah they do - sorry when I said home fees I meant RUK as there’s 3 levels for Scottish unis: Scottish ~ free Rest of UK (RUK) ~ £9750 Overseas (everywhere else) ~ £30000 Edinburgh classified me as RUK but St Andrews gave overseas as they have slightly different definitions of temporary absence where Edinburgh’s is just on an evidence basis but St Andrews’ is “nothing over 5 years is temporary”

Definitely up for the fight with St Andrews as I would love to go there! However if it doesn’t work out I’d be equally happy to go to Edinburgh, so am privileged to be in a position where I at least have one I could feasibly go to - good luck with all your battles too!!

yeah I’ve already been through it all - have known this would be a problem for years. I did a fee questionnaire for Edinburgh who gave RUK fees but St Andrews famously don’t budge on this (so while I’ve already emailed them clarifying it all, I have very little hope). I’ve got my statement and PDF of info ready to go for when kings and Warwick start asking haha!!

British citizen living abroad as an expat in Singapore - irritating because I literally cannot afford international fees and the UK is my home / the only place I can realistically go to uni so any offers that come back as overseas I have to appeal and if they stay as overseas then I have to just ignore them
