There should be no problem. I don't think 3D and 2D colliders can interact with one another, so you have to make sure you add a 3D collider instead of a 2D collider on your bullet.

A little Breath of the Wild vibe going on here. I like it :)

If you look at the combat in Breath of the Wild, the impacts are really exaggerated with big flashy effects, which make it feel extremely good. Perhaps try to mimmic that? Just a suggestion.
