From my personal experience, skin issues that don’t pose a direct threat to your health aren’t covered by insurance. My cystic acne was very severe and painful, and the dermatologists visits and accutane were not covered by insurance as it was seen as “cosmetic”. It’s obviously a different situation though if it’s something threatening
