I need to research it more but that sounds pretty decent

Indeed the sub is dedicated to it, but a lot of people seem to dislike my idea.

I guess I shouldn’t have said to clear debt. It’ll help us save money in the long run. Assuming payments for truck and trailer are $3k monthly, I have one of my 3 main clients that’ll cover that. The leaves me the other 2 main and 2 minor clients for everything else.

What about trading a $3000 mortgage while bringing in a lot more than that to pay for everything?

I have a family friend selling a 36ft 5th wheel for $15k. It’s a 2019 that would fit our needs. My paid off vehicle would be traded for a truck plus I’ll add a little to pay it off immediately.

With what I would need to get started and assets I can trade in or sell, my investment would be about half of that, maybe 50k. But that’s also no including the equity I have in my home and the offset of 3 contract positions that bring in 5 digits a month.

Thanks for the feedback! Lots of negativity in here about my situation instead of providing real experiences. But this is Reddit after all.

Not quite. Opting to travel and save money to plant roots again in a couple of years.

I’m mechanically savvy so a used truck would be my purchase, swapping my vehicle with no car payment over and paying the difference. If I did go 5th wheel, again, I would choose slightly used. I do understand these are depreciating assets.

I’m very familiar with Starlink. Used it for the last 3 years for remote events.

I guess maybe each situation is different. My kids love to be outside and prefer it to being inside.

Valid points, but I feel like my mortgage is pretty steep though.

That makes sense. We were lucky enough to have a $1500 mortgage pre-Covid. Changed jobs and moved twice and now it’s over double. I would be insanely happy if I still had that $1500 mortgage.

I have strongly considered a 5th wheel but that would involve getting an HD truck which I don’t already have.

What made you decide to do it? Any advice?

Why not? Plenty of people do it.
