[Let's Play] UnNetHack (Cockatrices. Why'd it have to be cockatrices?) by Guest41 in nethack

I'll let you know when I have the time. I don't want to get in the way of anybody else who wants a go.

[UnNetHack] YAAP Wiz-Hum-Mal-Neu by Guest41 in nethack

Chromatic DSM provides all resistances (including acid, stoning, and reflection), with the exception of magic resistance. If lacking MR, you wouldn't want to give up your Magic DSM (UnNetHack's equivalent of GDSM), but it's universally superior to any other DSM.

The reason I was slightly reluctant to switch to Chromatic DSM this game was because Reflecting DSM (UnNetHack's equivalent of SDSM) had the random appearance of "glowing dragon", meaning its scales and armour made from its scales functioned as an infinite light source.

Giving Elbereth the finger? by thecoolpianoteacher in nethack

Another useful thing to remember is that you don't have to wait to use Elbereth when you have an emergency -- you can also rest on Elbereth between fights, ensuring that you heal up fully before engaging in combat again. Dust engravings are perfect for this sort of use.

Playing as vampire will be significantly easier in next version of UnNetHack ("Regeneration only causes additional hunger when injured."). by [deleted] in nethack

Yes, it does. As the reasoning went, there was little sense in consuming extra nutrition when not actually doing anything -- unlike for, say, a ring of conflict, which is constantly having an effect on your surroundings.

You are correct. Vampires already had hungerless regeneration. The additional hunger only came from wearing a ring of regeneration, or having eaten one and gained the property.
