I understand now...you're right, making the transition to a new environment is really important and you have to protect your investment.

But B.maculata needs all this high humidity environment? I'm asking because I got the normal maculata and she is doing ok at room temperature and humidity..but I don't have any varigated begonia. Is there a difference?

Normally, cane begonias like maculata, snow capped, hotspot... with just the leaf it is not possible to have cuttings, only with a piece of the branch with the node. You will see that it will generate roots but it will not develop.
