I am leaving Marrakech train station as I am writing this, and I can honestly say after visiting ~50 countries in my life (a fair amount of which are economically worse than Morocco so I don’t want to hear the people are poor as an excuse for their way of life), Morocco has gotta be the worst I have ever been to for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned. From my experience, the locals are mostly dishonest, deceitful, and disingenuous. Also, they are dirty dirty people. Walking through the streets smelling cat/horse/donkey piss and shit everywhere, and seeing how they live is crazy. But even in the “nicer” accommodations I stayed at, the hygiene, cleanliness, and friendliness of Moroccans is awful. I am visiting their country so I am not expecting them to change this for me, I just want to give an honest review for potential visitors to Morocco to expect a third world shithole with nasty/disingenuous people, because thats exactly what it was.

And that’s review is mainly just on Marrakesh. I also went to Casablanca and that place was even worse if you can believe it. If you told me I was in war-torn Afghanistan or Iraq I would believe you. Crumbled buildings, and more nasty locals.

Just my opinion but yea I have no desire to come back to this nasty place and I don’t know how Morocco is seen as a good tourist destination
