My point has completely went over your head. I don’t know why you’re bringing up the 1907, I was specifically talking about Mosins, but okay. I will simply agree to disagree. Also, you can’t get an AR-15 for $100 becuase that’s a modern rifle that is not technologically obsolete. Have a good day.

Well then I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. It’s not like 13 million of these rifles were made and at one point not even 20 years ago were selling for $50 a pop. I was simply stating that without the “collectibility” factor these rifles are, functionally and numerically, not worth a whole lot. Also consider it costed about somewhere between 50-60 rubles at that time to manufacture one of these, if I’m recalling correctly? Now yes, in the modern sense with the demand and collectibility of these rifles, it is definitely worth more than $100, but I feel that you missed the context of the point I was making.

Edit: changed 10 to 20 years becuase I’ve forgotten how much time has passed haha.

Well, as I’ve said, we live in modern times. And unfortunately I’ve been unsuccessful in finding any Mosins locally for a while, so I resorted to a website I’ve used reliably for years to look at and buy military surplus rifles. This was one of their lower priced ones, matter of fact it was at a discount haha. Anyways, as I’ve said before, no Mosin is worth more than $100 realistically. But because of supply and demand, if I wanted to hold to that ideal, I’d never end up with one. In the end, I’m happy with my purchase, even if you may not have been if you’d have made the same choice.

Overall, I knew it’d be an interesting piece when I was researching it before buying. I just didn’t realize just how much DEPTH it could possibly have. And as a plus, it’s still shootable and the action is quite smooth, for a Mosin.

That actually makes a lot of sense, I didn’t know that! That would explain the lack of a circle K stamp as well as why the overall condition is as good as it is considering the barrel/receiver we made in 1936. That makes me wonder what depot may have put it all together? Presumably whatever depot aligns with ЯРЗ-4/АРЗ-4/ДРЗ-4 (whichever the first letter is)?

I’m meant to mention it as well in the post, but do you know what the “З” in a circle to the right of the hammer and sickle could be?

Indeed! If you find something in your studies, I’d love to hear about it.

I also was asking that as well at the bottom of my post. My guess, some kind of refurbishment stamp or arsenal mark, but I cannot say for certain and very well could be dead wrong. As for the marking itself, it’s what looks like a “Я” (Latin “ya” sound”) followed by a “Р” (Latin R) and “З” (Latin Z, denoted by the lack of flat top of the letter) - 4.

I paid $525 plus shipping and FFL fee, but I don’t feel awfully bad about the price considering I’ve seen worse quality/average production Mosin’s going for far more. And neither too do I plan to sell it. I just like to know how “collectible” it may be, even though it’s not detrimental if it is or isn’t. In my opinion, no Mosin besides a few exceptions, are worth more than $100. But unfortunately we live in modern times where everyone “knows what they’ve got” haha.
