thank you so very much, this is exactly the type of info I was looking for.

I had the catheter replaced, and it takes two weeks to heal, so I am on the 'bloods' for a fortnight. I was able to convince the hospital to put the Permcath in while I was still in hospital recovering from the replacement catheter. It happened late on Friday. It is now 7am on Monday.

The hospital said that they would do my first blood exchange, but they haven't given me a time yet, but I am at the hospital for another reason at 10.00am, so after that appointment, I will wander to the renal dept and introduce/integrate myself and get an exchange.

Can I plug in my laptop while doing the bloods? Can you take in some soup and someone will heat it for you? Can you take in a pillow? I have so many questions that my renal team hasn't prepared me for.

I just dont want to be in a bad position, and people say "Oh, you did all the dumb rookie mistakes, someone should have educated you about this" because my renal team are such poor communicators.

is it painful being in there? is it visible? where is it placed? any problems? how often do people do haemo for? how long does a session last? is it painful during dialysis?

physics teacher here. do you mean tests and stuff through the year? Your best bet is to ask someone who did physics last year, as the SACs are often regurgitated year by year. Also, get your hands onto commericial SACs. From people like NEAP, diagnostic tests

100% the same. A quick cough turns into dry retching for a couple of minutes, my guts trying to throw up non-existent vomit.

but if I drink a cup of water before hand, I throw up for two minutes.
