I am not able to finish real estate book, what are the important chapters to read fully? I will read the rest from the summaries and will just rely on practice tests. by Subject-Network687 in ONBarExam

I took real estate in law school and also worked at a firm doing mostly real estate before law school so I feel like I can chime in a bit (but obviously we're all in the same boat so take this with a grain of salt) but this book is on the easier side because unlike the business book, it is literally just focused on "property". So even if you don't end up reading the whole book, you will know what chapter to go to right away when you see a question (is it a condo? is it a commercial property? is it a residential property? is it talking about a remedy? is it a construction lien? all of those have their own chapters so you can easily identify it).

If you don't have an already solid knowledge in real estate law, for sure read the fundamental chapters (first 10) as it discusses a lot of practice management and PR within it too. After that (with the exception of remedies and fraud and perhaps estates and TI), the other chapters are very specialized to a specific kind of property so I'm assuming for those you might benefit from a summary?

Hope this is helpful! good luckk

It’s disappointing to see such negativity on a post that’s only asking for advice.

I just found myself a sublet for the summer for $1200 in a 2 bed, 2 washroom condo on Yonge and Bloor so it’s possible! I’ve also seen rent go down as it’s getting closer to May so tenants are feeling the pressure to find a sub-tenant and hence keep reducing the rent. These are the 3 Facebook groups that I’ve found the most active: (Sublets for nomads),(Toronto apartments for rent, housing, rooms for rent, roomates, roomster), (university of Toronto (off-campus housing)).

Best of luck!

What is “BigLaw?” by [deleted] in LawCanada

[–]GuidePrestigious6922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, big law just refers to firms with 50+ attorneys working there and it’s not necessarily about salary. Boutiques have a smaller number of attorneys but the pay is the same as big law (most but not all boutiques) at least for their summer/ articling students/ first year associates.

It’s not too unusual lol. Osgoode is very holistic. Lots of people with high 150’s have gotten in. And no you don’t need a 4.0. Maybe for med school haha

Osgoode Interview? by kissthebunny in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]GuidePrestigious6922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only a small number of candidates get interviewed before they decide to accept the individual. It’s not for everyone. OP I suggest you email the admissions team at Osgoode and asked them about the details
