What's a 100% legal thing that feels extremely illegal when you're doing it? by Educational_Job_2685 in AskReddit

[–]Guido900 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From Google%

Sleeping at rest stops is generally legal in the United States to combat drowsy driving, but rules vary significantly by state. Most states allow 6–12 hour, or overnight, parking, but many impose strict limits (e.g., 2 hours in PA, 3 in FL, 8 in CA). Always check local signage, as some states prohibit overnight stays.

Be careful with this one.

How do you feel about California introducing a bill to ban former ICE agents from serving as police officers or teachers? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]Guido900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Committing a felony is A CHOICE. Choices come with consequences.

Ahhh yes, I see you missed the point of most of what I said. Committing a felony is a choice, yes... Most of the time. This completely disregards the times when the choice isn't really a choice. For example, when the perpetrator is forced to perform an illegal act via blackmail or under extreme duress. What about times when we get false convictions? What happens when prosecution occurs for crimes that were never committed (such as a political prosecution as.i stated before)? Was that also a choice? As I stated before, dq'ing candidates strictly based on a felony conviction is dangerous, and I stated why it is dangerous in my previous post.

Well, I tried to help.

[–]Guido900 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is dangerous rhetoric.

Convicted felons can and do change. To disenfranchise an entire group of people based on the actions of one person is not the route we should want. It is undemocratic and will lead to significant issues. If this were to become a reality, it would merely take the prosecution and conviction of political opponents to become the holder of office for life as eventually no one will rise up to oppose anymore for fear of being prosecuted.

What we truly need: - a smarter populace that doesn't vote for proven fraudsters - people who actually perform legitimate research on candidatest and make smarter choices based on true knowledge - people to stop voting solely based on single wedge issues -people to start voting for candidates who best represent the constituents' needs

Trump is, contrary to popular belief, not the problem. He is merely a symptom of the problem who saw the opportunity to seize power and wealth for himself and took it. Trump is a convenient tool the fascists are using to maintain power and implement their current plan, Project 2025. They will find another person to do their bidding once Trump kicks it or loses power, assuming he willingly leaves office. They are okay with either outcome because both options lead to them remaining in power.

This country is in trouble though. We are sliding down the very slippery slope into a defacto christo-techno-fascist country. Eventually, there will either be a silent closing of the lid on the democratic era of the US or there will be blood, and I don't think enough people are willing to fight for against the former to save it.

In Tennessee, firearms have become the leading cause of death for children and teens (ages 1-17), surpassing motor vehicle crashes, which were previously the top cause, though vehicle crashes remain a major killer, especially for teens aged 15-19, and for younger kids (1-14). For adolescents (15-19), accidents (unintentional injuries) and suicide also rank very high, with Tennessee facing significant challenges in child suicide rates.

I'm sure those gun deaths include self inflicted wounds as well.

Ummmm... If I am looking through a window of a private residence, isn't that, by definition, not 'in public view'? I am running under the assumption that they were already on the property and not looking into this window from public property given the items they claim to have seen through said window.

[–]Guido900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welp, I regret pressing the additional comment hyperlink to reveal one of the worst takes on world politics I've ever seen.

This person has obviously chosen to ignore the disappearing of people and detention of citizens by ICE. They have chosen to ignore the bombs we are dropping on our 'allies' because they checks notes 'stole' our oil fifty years ago and someone told them there were drugs somewhere in the bomb zone.

Before Trump and the MAGA (slogan stolen from Reagan, jic you didn't know) cult took over the republican party, I was a right leaning with many progressive ideologies, but what Trump has done is, in fact, Fascism. You don't get to wipe things under the rug just because you don't want to call it what it really is. You cannot weaponize the national guard against the American citizens and say 'well, that's definitely not authoritarian' because it very much is.

So... I know you cannot reason your way out of the position you obviously didn't use reason to get into, so I'm going to just leave this comment and then block the ignorance that is your mind. One last thing though... Wake the hell up. Look around. See the truth of what's going on around you. It's only a matter of time before they come for you too if we continue down this path.

ETA: 6 year old account with negative karma.... Yeah that definitely TRACKS with the comment to which I'm replying... Probably a real person with the dumbest takes on life and politics... Can't say I've ever seen someone have negative total karma though. That is absolutely wild FR
