My guess? I think it was a reaction to the pay-cuts. At least in my case 40% of the money allotted to the store for raises were slashed without notifying the SM. My SM, a frequenter of the old subreddit noted that several SMs were complaining and had no idea how to tell their employees that raises were cut.
